Re: New version of Rainbow's Black Sheep of the Family
I agree with Stefan72. I guess it doesn't matter what they would record there would be a problem with it. I like the song a lot too and welcome more of the same. I think the vocal performance is better than the Dio's version (sorry to swear in the Church).
Blackmore does a good job here as well - his trade mark trills are there in spades full. The drumming and bass are okay - the track rocks out and I want more of it.

depends what you want i suppose? but for me if your going to release something then dont do it in a half assed way, why not just put a decent rhythm section together and do it properly? That had the potential to be a bloody brilliant release instead of just ok

According to a new interview one of the 2 other new tracks is ‘The storm’. I’m presuming this is a cover of the BN track, if so, the haters gonna go crazy!

Re:
I always thought The Storm would've been a brilliant Rainbow hardrock song in the style of Black Masquerade. I'd be glad if they do so!
And I agree with Stefan72. I can understand Ritchie. Great playing on BSOTF btw!

agree re Storm, will be interesting. you got those moaners, who will complain whatever, and to be honest probably have done since the Rising period ended.

Re:
I don't know whom you mean with "haters", but there are two things coming to my mind:
a) If someone covers a BN song, I don't expect anything sounding like Rainbow of course.
b) "you got those moaners, who will complain whatever, and to be honest probably have done since the Rising period ended" - gladly there are people who are able and willing to differentiate. But if it makes you happy to spread some fantasy about "haters", go ahead. Meanwhile I'll give the Difficult To Cure album a new spin and enjoy it.

To be honest not a fan of the remake. Tone sounds a lot like SIUA,even though I am a fan of that album.

Re: New version of Rainbow's Black Sheep of the Family
It's a decent cover and I like it better than the cover on the 75 album, but I don't understand the hype about Ritchie's playing on this one, as some comments on this forum got me to listen to it slightly excited, only to be bamboozled and flabbergasted by what I am hearing - which is to me Ritchie's worst studio lead playing so far.
He sounds his age, plus 20, minus all the finesse and touch that comes with being a former guitar great. And before anyone jumps at me with ''speed'' comments, I ain't talking about speed either...
Still, after I took it for what it is the second listen was more fun. Ronnie does a good job on this one.

Re: New version of Rainbow's Black Sheep of the Family
I guess it would be much better for Ritchie to release only brand new songs these days because he set for himself a very high level years ago. Even on songs like BSOTF he's got this Blackmore's Night tone that we got used to over the years.

interesting re the guitar work, It's just the way he plays these days. I still like it though can't be compared with his past glories, how could it really ?
