Another original post from LiB

What a boring sad existence s/he must lead. I don't like Little Mix either and guess what I never go on their fan forums

So because i don't like what MK Morse are today (which is after all a boring sad pale imitation of the band that were Deep Purple) i must have a boring sad existence????Interesting logic mate?? emoticon

Thing is i cant see what you can truthfully disagree with in my post ?The points i made were as you know

point 1 I don't go to see DP anymore because they don't appeal to ME anymore.

point 2 DA and SM are great musicians(don't know about you but that sounds like praise to me?)

point 3 Paicey seems to have lifted it a bit for this tour(that also sounds like praise to me?)

point 4 Gillan is BLOODY AWFUL(indisputable fact that no one can deny, his voice is shot, he sings nasally and flat and squawks and looks and performs like an old man, which is after all what he is, that is an absolute fact!!!)

now if that makes me a boring sad individual because i don't want to see a band that is bloody years past its sell by date then so be it. emoticon

BTW who are you to tell me i shouldn't be on this forum? I thought it was a DP forum? and as you must know i was/am a HUGE DP fan just not a fan of the touring band.

It has become more detailed. DP consists of five individuals, and sometimes not all but some of them perform on a high level. From what I saw lately, I especially appreciate what Airey, Morse and Paice played.

So you needn't worry that your absence has morphed this board from a bashing hell to praising heaven. emoticon

Well let me see where will i start ?
I chose not to attend any gigs on this tour just i have chosen not to attend since 2011.Why? because quite simply this band do not appeal to me anymore .
I watched the BBC show and have seen many clips from this tor and they all confirm that i made the correct decision for me!!
Instrumentally the band are still very good SM and DA are brilliant musicians no doubt and Paicey seems to have lifted it a bit for this tour (maybe because its the last?).Gillan though is BLOODY AWFUL!!!.
I remember when he was fired back in the 80s and during one of the arguments he had banged his fist on the table and said are we a rock band or what?Well today the answer is very much OR WHAT??

I must admit to being surprised at such positive comments here regarding the BBC set. It was flat and plodding but most worrying was SM on that evening. Easily the worst I have seen him play. Much better in Birmingham

I agree the BBC show was not good at all ,glad you enjoyed Birmingham though emoticon

Cheers, much better than I was expecting. I went for one last time and was glad I went. I have no idea when I last saw them.... They were blown off stage by a bunch of guys pretending to be Lynyrd Skynyrd, and I honestly thought that was the end then.

Before casting aspersions on my logic it would be helpful if you understand it. We know you don’t like MK Morse (how could we not? You’ve said 1,567,877 times). You are entitled to that opinion, of course, but the reason I suggested you led a sad and boring existence was the lack of originality in a lot of your posts, including the one I commented on

quote:

Thing is i cant see what you can truthfully disagree with in my post

My post was about a lack of originality not on whether I agreed or not.

quote:

point 1 I don't go to see DP anymore because they don't appeal to ME anymore.

Really? You surprise me. I better retract my post. I bet you’ve never posted anything to that effect before on this forum.

quote:

point 2 DA and SM are great musicians(don't know about you but that sounds like praise to me?)

Not sure what relevance this has to my post. Well done, on this occasion, for not repeating your mantra on SM solos – another of your hobby horses

quote:

point 3 Paicey seems to have lifted it a bit for this tour(that also sounds like praise to me?)

Not sure what relevance this has either but well done for saying something that could be considered original. I don't think that was your motivation for posting, however.

Fact is he is aged 72. The rest is opinion and it’s arrogance of the highest order to assert opinion as fact when so many other knowledgeable people come to a different conclusion. It wouldn’t prove you were correct but what are your musical/singing credentials which give you this knowledge denied to the likes of me? I took my brother to see Deep Purple in 2015 (first time) and he’s played in youth orchestras, can sight read music, has grade 8 piano & violin. He also isn’t a fan of Gillan even from his hey-day – more a David Coverdale fan (as I am). Nevertheless, despite this he commented that he thought that Gillan did a good job and was almost faultlessly in tune throughout the show.

My 13 year old son who’s also quite musical (drums & violin) absolutely loved the show at Birmingham and to paraphrase yourself, who are you to argue that DP should have packed up up and deny us (circa 60,000 on this UK tour) the fantastic nights entertainment that we had?

quote:

now if that makes me a boring sad individual because i don't want to see a band that is bloody years past its sell by date then so be it

No you need to re-read my post again. My mum (aged 83) and dad (aged 85) have never seen a DP show and don’t even own a DP LP and I don’t hold it against them. I would find it a little sad if they spent their whole retirement justifying this, however.

I’m Paul Jacklin – the user name is a bit of a giveaway. I don’t think my post is telling you shouldn’t be on this forum and I think I should be allowed on a Little Mix forum if I so wish too! The issue though is why you post the same things over and over. It seems as though you have set yourself up as a person on a mission to defend the DP brand, as you have defined it.
I have to say that the negativity on this forum is why most of the time I keep well clear of it – I just get suckered in after a new album or a show I’ve seen. So bye bye for a while – or infinity perhaps?

The negativity here is what have concerned me too.
It have been a negativity bordering on almost hatred against what is supposed to be your favourite band or individual band members..?
You are a few, but I'm sure in a minority anyhow.

Around 90000 fans for the Scandinavian (I count Finland as part of Scandinavia too)/UK leg tells us a different story.

yeah i saw them on that tour as well and yes LS blew them awayI guess that was the start of the decline for me, as i attended a few subsequent tours and really started to feel it wasn't worth the money anymore.

I don't feel that the forum is negative towards DP at all, more the opposite as far as I can see. There are quite a few people on here that see nothing but perfect albums and perfect live performances from DP. If they are so happy with the current band that is fine, but anyone who has any different type of comment is instantly shouted down.
I saw them recently and they were far better than I was expecting, but the BBC show was poor yet the usual comments were thrown at me for expressing this opinion.
