Yeah, check Youtube for all vids. What an amazing evening that was. Ritchie and the band are really on fire! Much more interesting for me personally than any current Purple gig.

I would say that for Ritchie "On Fire" is a stretch, but yes the band do sound good, and he plays some nice guitar, much much slower than he used to though. His slowness of movement, for someone who was always so fit just doesn`t seem right, even at 72, there must be some medical reason or he has just been hammering the booze too much too long. He is still my favourite guitarist though.

Not a joke. i"m serious. You should learn to accept other peoples opinions without answering everytime like a little fanboy kid. Reactions to the gig are throughout positive. Stay in your Morse land, we stay here and the world will be a much happier place.

I didn't go to this show or last years shows and I wont go to the others this month. I did buy the big DVD/bluray/Book package from last years shows. Not a great investment it has to be said.

Look, I'm a fan of Blackmore. His contribution to music is enormous. He deserves respect for his career and his ability.

These shows though...it reminds me of what David is doing with Whitesnake. David and Ritchie were both huge talents but now they have limitations. They have chosen to surround themselves with "third party" players, ie musicians who have no presence in their musical histories. They both talk about how great these players are etc... The real difference is that David is still producing new music and touring with it, so he's still a working professional.

These shows are high end karaoke. Pure and simple. Cash grabs. No investment (listen to these studio tracks from Ritchie). It's not about the fans or even the music. Its about money in the bank.

This is not really an issue in itself. Other bands tour for exactly the same reason. But the quality of the performances is not good enough at this level. It's...OK. There's not enough give to the fans, not enough recognition of why he's able to play these shows in the first place.

Now, I can hear and see that people are enjoying the shows and that's great. For them and Ritchie. But really, to me everyone is being sold short. Ritchie needs players who can drive him forward, just like David does. Not half arsed yes men who should be playing at weddings. This is high end rock 'n' roll for gawd's sake.

I agree with a lot of what you say, but I don't think it's fair to categorise the band as entirely bit-part players better suited to weddings. The reason I say that is because it seems Blackmore makes more mistakes than the band, they actually seem perfectly solid and play well enough together.

Like you I'm a Blackmore having seen him live from way back in the "In-Rock" days but I wish he hadn't bothered with all this nonsense of "returning to rock", it's just utter bullsh1t and a total cash grab/pension enhancement activity. I wouldn't go to any of these shows even if someone here bought me a ticket and a private jet between venues!!

I've seen the clips from YouTube and it's a re-run of last year, a bit better, but basically the same thing on repeat. Blackmore a year older, a year slower, a year more diminished, it's not a treat to witness really.

Like yesteryear's shows the London gig seems to have had some nice moments, but the one thing that was missing IMHO, was "fire"! Take All Night Long for example, there's no drive at all, it's to slow and lacks power. And Ritchie played some nice licks, but he was definitely not "on fire" in London...
