Burn live
I was trying to work out if I had ever heard Burn played live, and I don't think I have. Did Rainbow play it in the 90s? That's the only likely time I can think of.

Re: Burn live
Aren't there plenty of live 'Burn' videos on youtube? Try the California Jam - it's the opening song!
Or am I reading your post incorrectly?

Yes, Rainbow played it at most, if not at every, gig of 1995-7.
Whitesnake have also played in the 2000s, usually as a medley with Stormbringer.

Oh, silly me! You meant where you were at the gig?
I was there when Tommy Bolin murdered the riff at MKiv's last ever gig at the Liverpool Empire.

Re: Burn live
Purple included a few seconds of the Burn riff in Mk2 reunion gigs.
Mark 5 (JLT) opened with it.
As well as 90s Rainbow and 00s Whitesnake, Glenn Hughes almost always encores with Burn. Black Country Communion are playing it live as well.
BN incorporated the riff into live renditions of Writing On The Wall.

Re: Burn live
Saw Mk3 do it at Trentham Gardens in '74 - my first gig - Purple !
They played the opening salvo and I didn't hear anything else afterwards!

Of the two of us clever enough to miss them, at least you remembered they played it!

Waoaw I've never heard a Rainbow version of Burn !
I liked that they used it for the S&M tour, it was quite a blast!
I witnessed that one, and then some versions by Hughes, most of them butchered...
I think Burn is a better opener than HS, which I've always prefered as an encore (except in their prime).

I believe they played it on the S&M tour. I am quite sure it was the show opener. But my memory of Hamburg '91 is rather limited as I fell asleep during the first song, only to wake up when the crowd was leaving the venue.
