Re: Scenes From A Memory - A Review (in 3 parts)

Well, thanks for your kind words. I try my best!

Why should the hypnotherapist have the will to kill Nicolas, even if his soul is Victorias?

That ending is founded by the film sequences that were done for the Metropolis 2000 Tour and can be seen at the end of the DVD of New York, Roseleand Ballroom.

The thing about the Hypno being Ed´s reincarnated soul could be that as is told throughout the album that the deeds of the people are supposed to follow them through eternity. Both Nicholas and later the Hypno himself were aware of who there were only that Nicholas didn´t know that the Hypno was, Ed and as the two shared the same past in two different persons Ed´s hate(and don´t forget his mind is obviously not in the best possibly condition) has followed him into the body of the hypno and so history repeats itself.

However, if they wanted that particular thing to be open for interprations it´s probably neither right nor wrong.I got the idea from that interpretation, which actually helped me a lot, writing the story, together with the lyrics speeches and sounds on the CD and the film sequences of the DVD.

Just watch the Metropolis 2000 DVD with audio commentary by the band. They´re brilliant! Really interesting and just hilarious! emoticon

just made a text-file out of your review. More than 4.400 words. You really should go out more often! emoticon

I know, I have written it in word and used the word count myself. Each post is almost as long as the allowed maximum.

I´m still searching for someone who pays me for doing things like that and then I´ll go out more often.emoticon

BTW: If you have the Metropolis 2000 DVD and watch it with audio commentary, you´ll hear Mike Portnoy and the rest of the band explaining the ending just like I did.

So Milan, now that you have everything from I&W through Scenes, how would you rank them?

Also, I'm assuming you do not yet have Six Degrees and Train of Thought? Let me just say that while both are good albums, they represent a change in direction (to me at least) of the sound of the band. I'll be curious to see what you think.

Re: Scenes From A Memory - A Review (in 3 parts)

So far I have heard nothing from Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence(it was the second DT album I didn´t pick up when it was new) but I know a few of Train Of Thought(As I Am, Honour Thy Father, Stream Of Conciousness) and if it sounds great it parts it´s overall just not my kind of thing(what doesn´t need to mean it is bad) the one that stuck out of those was Stream Of Conciousness.
I´ll give a full rankinging when I have the remaining two(early next month they´ll be mine).

So far my rating is, though(not counting ACOS as album):

1. Scenes From A Memory
2. Images And Words
3. Falling Into Infinity(on some days above I&A)
4. Awake
5. When Dream And Day Unite
