Gillan and all the axemen that have collaborated with him

Now that its confirmed that the ultra-great Jeff Healey will make a guest appearance on Gillan's upcoming cd release and that Jeff played live with Ian, it got me thinking to how many talented guitarists have played with Ian:

Ritchie Blackmore
Joe Satriani
Leslie West
Bernie Torme
Jeff Healey
Tony Iommi
Steve Morse
Uli Jon Roth (also will appear on the Gillan CD)

The list reads like a who's who of guitar players that have played with Ian. Jeff, Ritchie and Steve are my personal favorites but the others ain't chopped liver either.

Randy California - one night w/Deep Purple; reportedly again for 5 gigs of some 'All- Star' thing ('Sounds Spectacular?) or other...reads like the IGB w/California playing with them
Ray Fenwick - IGB
Steve Byrd
Steve Morris
Brian May - Rock for Armenia (I know, they may not have actually played or recorded together - but, ah the dreams! emoticon If only Brian May had ben asked to join Deep Purple in late 1994 emoticon ...I better stop now before I make myself have wet dreams tonight! emoticon

If memory serves me right, I also think Ian Gillan joined Yngwie Malmsteen for an encore once. I think there is a boot of it.

We are here to watch three men, and three men only.
Would you welcome please, Robin Trower.

Re: Gillan and all the axemen that have collaborated with him

I want to hear Gillan singing with Jeff Healey's band! What a aetlist:

It was a six-song, 45-minute set:

Highway Star
Lazy
Sugar Plum
When A Blind Man Cries
Smoke On The Water
High School Confidential

Does anyone know if Healey's 'house band' is made up of his long time bandmates Joe Rockman (bass) + Tom Stephen (drums)? Did they have someone for keyboards or did they do without them?
I believe I've mentioned Healey before as one of the guitarists I'd've loved to see get the gig with Deep Purple back in 1994, but I fear his 'sit down' approach to playing wouldn't go over big with a lot of Purple's fans...wouldn't bother me a bit, though! emoticon
