Here's a question, since Born Again has such great material but such a poor mix (that's actually become a story of almost legendary status) -- isn’t there enough interest among us fans in having it totally re-mixed off the masters, properly??? Here's an idea, send Geezer across the world then have the incomparable Roger Glover go in ...and make Born Again sound the way it should have in the first place!!!

Hello Mr. Recording Executives (and Moronica, of course) ...I smell MONEY -- that ought to get their attention, eh? :-)

I have a feeling that you will be able to hear what it should sound like very soon..

I beleive it's making its way around.

I could be wrong though

Ozzy will be remembered as THE Sabbath vocalist.

Ronnie James Dio was the greatest ever Sabbath vocalist and Heaven & Hell is the best ever Sabbath album. So there! emoticon

Due to his short tenure in the band, Gillan will be remembered as a mere footnote in Sabbath's history. Slightly above David Donato......

[that last comment was a joke emoticon]

Have to agree that Gillan did some killer versions of Ozzy-era Sabbath tunes though - Black Sabbath in particular.

I think as for songs as Paranoid, Black Sabbath and Iron Man Gillan did an altogether much better job than Dio(or anyone else but Ozzy, for that matter).

Not to rubbish anyone here for their opinions, but for me,Gillan will be remembered as the vocalist that could never be replaced, for the mere fact that no one since him,has done a better job singing for them,Tony Martin is a fine singer, but even he was never permanant,Gillan still hasn't been surpassed in that slot.(imho)

Ray Gillen was pretty cool. Pity his efforts were wiped on Eternal Idol.

To this day, I still have trouble picturing Gillan in Sabbath. He sanged great on the album, but he just doesn't give off that sinister or scarey image to be in the band.

Diostillrocks,

Have you heard Ian singing the title track "Black Sabbath"? You want to talk sinister and scary -- man, it gives me chills everytime I play it.

Ozzy was cleary the man that established the Black Sabbath sound, vocally, but Ian was by no means in anyone's shadow when he fronted Sabbath. I know, I saw them live! My gosh, what a powerhouse show that one was.

Cheers,

My good Dr. I got the album, and it's a great album to play around Halloween.

What I met was that Gillan never looked scary. He sounded it, but didn't have the look.

What I remember from Gillan during the mid 80's was during the Purple reunion when he was into wearing Hawaiian shirts. He may have scared Mr. Blackwell (Best dressed, worst dressed fashion guru), but he didn't look frightening to the rest of us.

Ya know, the "look" -- in any band -- used to mean a lot to me. It no longer does. I agree that Ian never "dressed for an image" -- believe it or not, that is one of the MANY things I admire so much about him.

Could he sing in a frightning manner? HELL YES!!! Did he look frightning, proabably only the day after a particularly successful night of intoxication! :-)
