No, Maiden sounds different.
But there is one part of a song on Toolbox, which reminds me of Maiden, but at the moment I can't tell, which track it is.

Could it be Candy Horizon perhaps?

Re: Toolbox

It's definetly the afforementioned:
"Pictures Of Hell" listen to the guitar.
Actually this album reminds me much more of the Gillan band in the Torme and Gers days than anything else,a mixture of the two if you will, yet it somehow has a grungy enough feel to escape total rehash trappings.
Still a firecracker to this day. emoticon

Yes, the song I meant has to be Pictures of Hell I think. Although I remember how the songs go, I can't say for sure. I think I have to check it out...

Re: Toolbox

Hey why are here so many people liking Tool Box and so few intervene in Steve Morris thread ?

Not only Gillan sings as if he was possessed but talso is the music frantic.
I even think that sometimes there are too much guitars and I appreciate quiet moments in Don't Hold Me Back.

But that's right this album rocks as never.

Tool Box has a fantastic cover ! I love it : Gillan's face on the front and his hairs on the back. Perfect delight but the booklet is pretty awful. Pity

About TBRO, nothing to say, it had been written for someone else and Ian had not more the kind of vocal texture that Blackmore was looking for, so ...

Gillan did more for hard rock vocals than any other vocalist. But you know what the same thing could be said of Blackmore. He did more for Hard Rock Guitar than any of the other guitarists out there. Once you take a few drinks and understand that all of the world could live in perfect peace again.

I know your not talking to me,I do nothing more than express their musical equivelence
here in these forums,I just like to remind people that Blackmore isn't the only living breathing great guitar player on the planet.

Pictures of Hell is my favorite track - Gillan's screams are fantastic - I couldn't really get into the rest, except one other (name???)

I mean, it's a good Cd, just kindda pop-metalish - like Van-Hagar or Ratt or the Scorps - not really my thing - no disrespect.

That rings a little bell there SD,if you listen to the guitar outro after the last verse in "Gassed Up",it sounds almost exactly like Ratt style.
Not that thats bad or anything, because I always liked them a little.

Re: Toolbox

Great album but as for Ians screams I personally feel they are not with the power he usually displays but actually somewhat weak for his standards. My favorite track is
Don't Hold me Back.

Has anyone ever heard Ian say that Dirty Dog is about Blackmore? Like Smooth Dancer was.
