Ian Gillan - Live in Nottingham

Anyone picked up this release?

Haven't heard anyone mention it yet, and if I'm totally honest, I didn't know it existed until I was browsing the CD store of a particularly violent UK city, on Saturday.

So imagine my surprise when, without expecting it, I found a CD I hadn't seen before in amongst the Purple section. That hasn't happened in ages, and I've almost stopped browsing Purple sections in record shops now!

So its Ian Gillan, live in Nottingham, around the time of Naked Thunder's release!

It is sitting on my desk here at work, though I haven't listened to it yet.

Any opinions on it? Am I in for a treat? Or is it another dodgy release to cash in the success of the band.

I don't have this CD, but I think it is the same stuff as they released on video years ago...

Yes, I think you are right! I never had the video, so hopefully this will be a good addition to my CD collection!

Is this the double pack containing both CD and DVD? I bought it last [sign in to see URL] have only played it once - not my favourite Gillan era.

[sign in to see URL] had no DVD. Just a single CD from Classic Rock productions. The sleevenotes say that it was enhanced from the video made by Carlton for a series of classic rock gigs.

Yes, that's the one. It's the same show/set on DVD and CD.

It's alright I suppose, Demon's Eye and WABMC are both worth the price of admission of alone and some of the other Gillan stuff is fairly good too (the vocal on No Cane On The Brazos for example is breathtaking).

How much did you fork out for it by the way? [sign in to see URL] has the CD/DVD double pack version of this one for £[sign in to see URL] (with no postage costs as long as you're in Europe)! emoticon

But it's a shame they left 2 tracks away for the DVD and the CD release! Why? The video was 2 songs longer!

I don't think this show is the best exemple of what this band could do on that tour.

The DVD is interesting because it's always nice to see Gillan on stage but the CD is rather blank

I don't have the cd but I suppose I'll get it.
The dvd is not too terrible,i just don'r care for the guest vocalist bit.
Living For The City while not too bad should have been left off this, the vhs version I'm told has Puget Sound and another track which escapes me right now,
I would like to get ahold of that.
Demons Eye is fabulous and so are a few others like Brazos.
Gillan seemed to be spark lit that night
and should have retired the naff red trousres by then,I wouldn't care so much about that but c'mon,Im not going to lie and say I like them. emoticon
