Re: Just Got Green Bullfrog......
You're right - you're title is so much more sensible...
MrED's right though - it's got a great atmosphere to it, rough and ready blues, and you can almost smell the sweat from the studio there too....

Re: Just Got Green Bullfrog......
On the album cover, along the folded edge, it says "Natural Magic". I have always wondered if that was the intended title of the album, as in Green Bullfrog-"Natural Magic".
Either way, it is a great album. I don't have the reissue yet, but soon.

Fat Larry, if you enjoyed the LP, you'll love the CD re-issue. The sound keeps the studio atmosphere, with all that great blues playing, but now it's as crisp as it can be without losing that sense of a jam session. Of the bonus tracks, Ain't Nobody Home, and Who Do You Love are well worth it. Only Louisiana Man could safely have been left in the vault - it sounds under-rehearsed and lacks a bit of sparkle. That and the track order is completely different!

Re: Just Got Green Bullfrog......
Yes!!! I listened to it a few times. It is magical! I love Earl Jordan's voice...very Clarence Carter. It's funny that they rave about Albert Lee so much, Ritchie's playing seems to dominate the Cd. (I got the reissue with the extra tracks.) Did Albert play with Gram Parsons at all?? That playing sounds familiar.
I do also love the two guitars coming together to accent Ritchie's playing so beautifully, they are all excellent. Paicey is on fire as usual.....Fantastic CD, I am always excited to find new moving and excellent music....especially when it involves Ian or Ritchie, (or Jon for that matter!) My husband LOVES this CD, and he does not compliment easily!!! I am continuously in awe of TMIB!!

No one came, I threw one more,
that really did the trick.

Re: Just Got Green Bullfrog......
Yeah, but the dolphins got their revenge on Springfield!!
Really glad you enjoyed it Justine2 - quite apart from the Purple connection, it's a blues album in its own right, and Earl does everything to make sure it's the 'real deal'! A stunning blend of an American and British take on the music that influenced/influences so many
JSA - the 'Natural Magic' is on my lp too, but it vanishes on the reissue. Still well worth it though
