A bit of trivia... Ian Gillan & Yngwie

Taken from a recent Malmsteen interview, thought I'd post it here too. I knew they jammed on the Naked Thunder tour but never on which songs.

"Guitar.com: What was it like for you to participate in the jams at the G3 shows with Joe, Steve and the other guests?

Malmsteen: In the beginning, it was hard to hear. It took me a few nights to get things sounding right for me because I never really played with other guitar players before. I’ve jammed with bands quite a few times, but in a less formal way. The times I’ve actually done it have been in Sweden, like with Ian Gillan from Deep Purple. I went up with him and did “Speed King” and “Black Night.”"

He can play it note for note and then he throws in about 2-3 hundred extra ones. emoticon

I can't see Ian doing that with him. Perhaps Malmsteen's memory isn't very good; maybe instead of performing with Ian, he was having a Grand Slam breakfast at Denny's.

I believe the boot exists! I traded with a guy once who had it, though I never got round to getting that one, such were the quality of the other gigs he had on offer!
