Re: Finaly Bogus Purple Live
He did sing it the Coverdale way pretty much....yea,we didn't have much time.
The dates posted by MrEd...I'd like to see the entire bookings...I still have my full ticket for the cancelled Portland concert...kept it cause I knew damn well this wouldn't be Purple had the show went on...and I thought it would make a good time piece.
I was fully aware of what the off shoots were up to..leading up to the news that broke as soon as the show was canceled,I remember thinking...Purple would have to be back together in order to pull off a tour.

One word about this. Three letters only. S-A-D. And I don't mean Sidneyland After Dark!

My guess is because the people who were behind the venture - managementwise - had used at least a couple of the others (Tony Flynn & Geoff Emery, I believe) in similar ventures before...a "New" Steppenwolf, for example, which was attempted sometime prior to the "New" Deep Purple in 1980.

a) Correct...

a) Thanks.
b) Don't know - I took my guess.
Semi-seriously though, I've wondered that very thing myself - I think. By which I mean I 've wondered if there were ever any other musicians in mind - asked/invited - auditioned for the project besides Emery, Flynn, Juergens & De Rivera. I sort of figured that if any other names even got as far as being bandied about, I'd have to think that nearly any, or hell, even most professional musicians would've looked askance at an offer to be a part of a reformed - oh, excuse me, "New" - Deep Purple that was sans Blackmore, Coverdale, Gillan, Glover, Hughes, Lord, Paice or Simper.

Re: Finaly Bogus Purple Live
I have the same feelings over the years in terms of your b) reply.
I can rememebr thinking, yeaaaaa I'm going to see Deep Purple, yet in the back of my mind I knew what was up with off shoots on a monthly basis atleast,so when they cancelled it wasn't such a big surprise...then the story of law suits hit the press, and I'm frantically searching for an old article I know I have around concerning this,Blackmore and Glover both said some interesting things to the press at the time of taking them to court.
I should upload a scan my full ticket here too, maybe I'll get around to it...

Re: Finaly Bogus Purple Live
Yes, it sounds like a bad garage band. Poor Evans, such a great singer.
