Hush And/Or Other MK I Tunes

I realize that the various MK's rarely performed songs from the previous incarnations (except MK III and so on performances of Smoke On The Water/Lazy/Highway Star).

Did MK II ever perform any songs from MK I era? I would've loved to have heard Gillan tackle Hush live.....or was it too psychedelic since MK II was moving in a harder direction?

I could write you a list, but the list experts will do that for you. emoticon
Yes...Hush was tackled, and very well I might add, along with Mandrake Root,Kentucky Woman(rarely)River Deep Mountain High(rarely)and some others, which will no doubt get listed by someone other than me. emoticon
Another one worth noting is "The Bird Has Flown",a nice short version of it was recorded at The BBC.

Re: Hush And/Or Other MK I Tunes

Let´s see:

Hush(second song or so in the set from mid 1969 to early 1970)
Wring That Neck(had it´s tight place up to autmn 1971 when it was finally dropped)
Mandrake Root(The Setcloser from 1969 to autmn 1971, most of the instrumental part should later be used for Space Truckin´s end)
Kentucky Woman(As encore on Montreaux ´69 on Kneel And Pray)
The Bird Has Flown(BBC 1969)

I think that´s all I know of.

Re: Hush And/Or Other MK I Tunes

As I understand it, as the newlineup was ready to tour they had rehearsed to new songs(Kneel And Pray and Child In Time) and extended them and the rest enough to drop most but a few Mark 1 songs from the set.

Am I right that DP didn´t have a headlining slot before 1970?

It seems to me they mostly played support or short festival sets in 1968 and 1969 and if I´m right the 1969 setlist should look(for most parts save a few exceptions) like this:

1.Kneel And Pray
2.Hush
3.Child In Time
4.Wring That Neck
5.Paint It Black
6.Mandrake Root

I'm not sure if there is any recorded version of RDMH w/Gillan and Glover, but I do know they did play it.

I ask again, where have you read that?

As far as I know there are only three known recorded gigs from Mark 2 in 1969(two of the three incomplete) which are from the Blizen Festival, Montreaux Casino and The Amsterdam Paradiso.

When and where should they have played River Deep, Mountain High.

...somewhwere on DeepPurple.net,and I think there may have been a recording, but I don't know if I'm mixing that up w/Kentucky Woman.
It might be a good idea to ask Nigel,as this is his area of expertise.(tour dates, and such)
If it really bothers you that much,I can ask him and get back to you on it.

Hush is a quite common song live the past few years.
