DP GARAGE BAND DAYS?

I HAVE A RUNNING BET ON THIS (you don't need to know what we bet for)Anyway....
I need proof that DP was created in 1967 and not 68. I can only find info on release dates of music. Does ANYONE have any credible info on when the band was formed or where?

Late 67 was when Lord and Blackmore were brought together for "Roundabout". March 68 was the formation of the first official line-up.

An early version of the band started rehearsing in November 1967. Whether you can really call this line-up "Deep Purple" is another matter...

For proof, you have two choices:

1) Buy the remastered "Shades of Deep Purple" which has an extensive booklet describing when abnd where it was recorded.

2) Look at Nigel Young's site (and take the word of everybody here that Nigel knows more about the history of Deep Purple than Deep Purple themselves).

That would mean that there's no more original member in the current line up

Already at that first rehearsal Ritchie and Jon wrote two tracks that would end up on Shades. If that matters.

As noted on another thread, it was Bobby Woodman-Clarke.

So the drumset was in the front of the stage back then and not in the backround like now? Amazing, wonder how that sounded like. emoticon
