Re: Nick sells the "Oh No No" acetate

I'm not going to hit the quote button for this.
Too many things to quote in one post, instead I'll put it this way:
Mr.Snip, have you no idea what an acetate is worth to an avid collecter,no matter what the song or entire album????????? emoticon
Nick clearly knows this has some substantial value, and I know people that would easily pay double for it,and just may contact them and put them onto it,knowing well that atleast if one of my connections has it,that it's going to the right person.
A "fanatic" of this stature, and I'm one of them, would have no problem if they have the money at the time of availibility.
I happen to collect acetates myself, and one of my prize pieces is an acetate of Shades.
This item set me back hundreds, and I wouldn't sell it for anything, much less a thousand.
When you say it's not a "gem",surely yuou are speaking from a song standpoint and not an item standpoint, otherwise you're talking out of the side of your neck!emoticon
What it's worth to you,or I for that matter, means squat,as far as it's value is concerned.
I don't know why Nick would auction this, maybe he's trying to clean up the old music room,or his memories of those days,or maybe he's in need of a loan, anybody care to give him one? emoticon
This is big news in my world! emoticon
I'll be passing the link along to a girl in Japan, and several American collecters, mind you, these are strictly acetate collecters, and a few of them don't even like Purple, but collect any acetates they can find.
This is the best way to find these thing,by hitting up collecters of formats, not certain artists.

I´m sure you´re right.I still consider those people out of their minds. Just as I consider stamp and coin collectors as out of their minds tooemoticon. But if I was lighting cigarettes with 50 € notes, I might reconsider.

I see your point clearly now! emoticon
You do have a place in this discussion, someone has to provide a reasonable perspective on the limits of forking over for an item that won't see any play,so whether it's Hush,or Oh No No No,makes no bit of difference to the buyer of an actetate of a Deep Purple record.

It's important to my bank account, that I remember this is a thousand quid, and not dollars,or I might be temped to give up on lighting my cigars with 50 dollar bills! emoticon

The auction closed with only one bid, but it was worth £1000 to somebody emoticon

I don't know how these things work - because the bid was less than the £1500 reserve, I suppose the seller isn't bound to sell and might re-offer it again in a future auction.

The reserve was from the first auction. It was relisted at the lower value but the item summary looks as if it was never edited for the "new" price.

Could it be that Nick is just flirting around,to see what he might get for it?
Plenty of ebayers do this kind of thing,I've done it with my car before, and got some pretty high offers for it,letting me know, that if I ever did let it go,that I'd have very little toruble getting that I think is a decent price for it.
Or maybe he attracted some collecters that were willing to make an outside of ebay deal with him,for yet more $$$$$$.

If the item is sold for the price asked he is under obligation to complete the transaction. Yes it is possible to "screw" the sale and risk "liable" alternatives. If the buyer wanted to persue the matter of a 'no sale" he would have to be in the same state, country to impliment his plans. If it was a cross country thing, most people would ignore it and give a "negative" report about the sale. EBAY does have "guide lines" but they are very limp.
