Maybe it's just when I was paying closer attention to such matters earlier in life that it just seemed that I almost never saw the self titled 3rd album - with the original gatefold sleeve - around and available for sale. Must've been a pecularity in regards to my little part of the world then. My only vinyl copy of the 3rd album is a crappy Russian pirate copy. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Niko Vidgren)Wed, 02 Mar 2005 16:26:33 +0000 Re: The original Shades of and TBOThttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p160104,from=rss#post160104https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p160104,from=rss#post160104 Was it? Certainly didn't notice that it was any harder then the other ones to pick up!nondisclosed_email@example.com (Rahul)Tue, 01 Mar 2005 22:46:33 +0000 Re: The original Shades of and TBOThttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p160102,from=rss#post160102https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p160102,from=rss#post160102 Well, I'm very happy for you, Niko! Of the MkI studio albums, I think the hardest one you'll have trouble acquiring will be the 3rd, "Deep Purple" - at least one with the magnificent gatefold sleeve. I know it was re-released by some other record company and/or licensees in a single album sleeve during the mid-to-late-70s or maybe the 80s sometime, but the original album sleeve was a gatefold.  Also interesting what you say about the U.K. cersion of "SODP" 's cover. That's the one with the full size shot of the band, isn't it? Maybe it's from having the U.S. version since around mid-1969 or early 1970, but I always kinda liked the U.K. one. The grass always appears greener over your neighbor's septic tank, ay?  This is posted presuming you don't have the 3rd album yet...and if you don't - mine's not for sale, sorry. nondisclosed_email@example.com (MrEd45)Sun, 12 Dec 2004 13:54:05 +0000 The original Shades of and TBOThttps://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p160101,from=rss#post160101https://bdeeppurplefanforum.runboard.com/p160101,from=rss#post160101Wow, I'm quite happy right now. I managed to get original US pressings of Shades of and TBOT, and did not pay much for them. They're in quite good shape both, EX-/EX-. They may not be very hard to get or very expensive, but I am happy to have them in my expanding collection. And the alternative cover of Shades of is way better than the one in the English pressing.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Niko Vidgren)Sun, 12 Dec 2004 10:57:53 +0000
