Re: "PURPLE PASSAGES" the Album; "Bird it Has Flown" the Song

Just got to say that I really rate the music from mkI, especially when I got the remastered versions.
Every fan of purple should have these, the sound is fan-tastic...

There were actually three versions released for TBHF, one was the album version and the other two were edited for the single, one being the European mix (the one you described)so depending on whehter or not you're Deep Purple album is an import, this may be why you notice? The other was for the U.S. single and it has a slightly different drum pattern in the intro.
If anyone has clearer infos on TBHF please elaborate.

The single was not edited from the album version! It was two wholly different studio sessions. The single was recorded on 17th Jan. The album version was recorded on 18th March.

It's not possible for there to be a difference between the drum intros for the US and European b-sides. It wasn't released in Europe.

The original backing track of the album version is due to be included on the Early Years CD http://www.deep-purple.net/features/early-years/mk1.htm.

You seem so adement about correcting just for the sake of doing so and I'm getting a little tired of it.

Now please tell me where I wrote that it was edited?
I'm well aware they are two different recorded versions. emoticon
Thank you for clearing up the rest. emoticon

Okay boss????????????

The mature thing to do Nigel,
is to come in on you're own and lend you're advice
instead of quoting me as being WRONG!

Play fair or don't play at all,be a good sport. emoticon

You set out a mistaken version of events that others may have taken to be correct. You even added a request, "Now if we are wrong, someone please help".

Read the earlier part of this thread, you wrote, "There were actually three versions released for TBHF, one was the album version and the other two were edited for the single, one being the European mix".

Going back over what I posted you're correct I did say "edited",although they were three different recording's they were VERY EDITED.
By this I meant shortened or lengthened, which is common knowlege when it comes to singles, most singles are
edited in length.
It must be that I worded it a little improperly, therefore
prompting you to correct me,not to mention my request
for further infos.
My mistake Nigel,I opologise and I will be careful in
any further corrections you make of any infos I offer.
I will now take my foot out of my mouth and move on. emoticon emoticon

Please keep in mind that virtually most singles taken from album tracks are edited one way or another,I should know I have over 600 of them and close to 400 of those are Deep Purple related, many of them of course are duplicates of the same single from different territories,
But my point is factuall. emoticon

Btw my collection is territorial driven and the idea is to
obtain pressings from as many countries as possible
and if I can't obtain it I atleast track the cat no. emoticon
