Re: Rod Evans can't sing hard rock?

definitily released 3 album in one year was a huge massacre to them. a very bad record label deal, but at those days things were in this way.

thank you very much mk1 for a decent and respectful begining to our fave band!

and I stand that CB first album is a excelent hard rock work. to those that find it get it with no fear.

PS : since douros talk about ITF with RE, I cant take out of my head he doing this song, would be a teatrical performance, cos of the louds screamings. emoticon

I agree w/Trollprincess and must add that his voice is great for a prog-band like CB.Definitly not for "In Rock".
Could you imagine CIT sung by RE?
Just do the test on listen to Mandrake root studio, then the In Concert live version...don't you hear the difference?
This one's for you Trollprincess.Told you I'd keep your support in mind! emoticon

Re: Rod Evans can't sing hard rock?

There seems to be a tendency for everybody to comment, "Can you imagine Rod doing the screaming on CIT" or whatever, and it's obvious that he wouldn't have sung it that way. Rod never was a screamer, and if he had stayed with Purple, either those songs wouldn't have existed, or they would have been really different. There's no way that Rod could have sung CIT, but I don't think he would have been out of place singing "Strange Kind of Woman", or "Demon's Eye."

Rod couldn't possibly have done everything Gillan did, but that doesn't mean that Rod wasn't a good hard rock singer. Gillan was just a better one.

I think that there's no small similarity between Rod and Ian, actually. The first time I heard Hush, it never occured to me that it was a different singer, just a different style of song.

Consider the fact that Ritchie wanted Paul Rogers to sing following Rod's departure. What would that have sounded like.
Come to think of it didn't Jimi Jamison from Survivor audition after Gillan's departure in '89? emoticon

Jimi Jamison has turned down this offer and made instead the "Baywatch"-theme... And now? Never heard of him again.

Blackers wanted Rodgers when Gillan left not when Evans was sacked...
Anyway that would have been terrible!
Rodgers is a good singer but too soft for dP.It's DC without the balls (IMHO).
