Yeah Ian, I'm sure it was
I don't see any 18 years olds at the Swedish Binglotto video, but thats because they're all UNDER 18!
(just another place he said that, but here, it was in front of PRE 18 years olds, tons of them)

That (Bingolotto) is hardly a typical DP audience. I still don't buy the claim that most of DP's audience today are youngsters. There are youngsters, but a huge part of the audience seem to be middle-aged, or middle-aging (like me) blokes with beer bellies (like... hey, I'll get rid of it before summer, just see!).

Ok, I was at the gig yesterday and yes, there were quite a lot 15-20 old kids.
But still average age were closer to 30.

A couple of thousand strong it was...pretty big for a couple of playbacks in a TV studio if you ask me...we could ask our friend MeltyMan...he was there...
Average age of their gigs if you were to actually ask me?
Not so many under 20 and not too many over 40...since 1984, thats my estimate from experience.
Not what can be witnessed in the Copenhagan 72 DVD...12 year olds galore.

Re: Interview with Ian Gillan
I think Gillan is refering to the main part of Europe and then especially Germany, where ROTD is now gold, according to deep-purple-net.
So that's a nice thing to achieve by then. Bananas didn't get gold status.
