Re: some more reviews
ROTD got 4/5 in the major Finnish rock magazine, Soundi. The reviewer is a known DP fan though.
A couple of quotes (my translations, not all to the letter, sorry!):
"It is futile to expect star velocity of the highway or intense blaze of a fireball, as the band has made themselves at home through a more emphatic musical refinement of Burn, to the more relaxed pace, established by the Perfect Strangers comeback." [This was hard to translate, I tried to do it very close to the original, to maintain the verbal acrobatics! -R]
"The Hammond wizardry [is that a word? - R.] of Don Airey keeps up with the best Deep Purple traditions, and this is awarded with excessive solospots."
"Girls like That is a very mechanical example of its genre --- Thus the stand-out tracks sound even better, sporting purposeful
melodies and natural-sounding arrangements."
"The orientally-tinged title track is among the gems of the album."
"The fine ballad Clearly Quite Absurd would alone justify this album."

Re: some more reviews
an influential Polish rock magazine "Teraz Rock" published a review of ROTD.
They gave 4,5/5
It is a quite an achievement as they tend to give 4 to all Purple albums (they gave 4 to Purpendicular - actually I agreed with them then but I know that some of you think the album deserves a higher mark)
The only critical remarks were about Ian's strained voice in Girls Like That and ....the cover.
The review is very very positive
cheers

Also great promotion - best in last 20 years.
Thank you EDEL.
I'll second that!
They have done much better all round than expected.
POS
Also agree here ! And it´s kind of a slap in the face of the negative voices that were raised when we knew that edel was gonna be the label ("Shitty small label", "It only has !@#$ on it", etc) ! It´s typical of Purple fans (at least online ones) to critisize without giving a chance

Re: some more reviews
The promotion was possibly nice, but when you hear that people didn't find the disc in various big stores in Germany today, it was possibly useless too ;-)

I didn´t find it at first because the shop ordered as many of the tin boxes as possible(and will probably get the regular edition a bit later), they didn´t put them under "new releases" but under "top sellers" as on the day of release the first five they had stocked were all bought in the morning a couple of hours after they opened. The day after they had ordered another bunch, and the one I got was one of only two left again.

Before two years the same company produce Bananas and win a lot according sales reports

Had not seen that one. I'm amazed that one of the Muppets has joined the band.

Re: some more reviews
in Polish Metal Hammer Rapture of the Deep is the album of the month. The review is very enthusiastic saying it is not only the best album of Steve Morse Era but one of the best albums of Deep Purple in general
of course the author is a great fan of DP
The magazine also published a top 20 of the Polish readers of Metal Hammer
Rapture of the Deep is in the 13th place
There is also a top 20 of readers of German Metal Hammer - no Rapture of the Deep in the top 20
cheers
