Re: Mark III The Final Concerts

Yeah, Paris 1975 is a great one, and so is Made in Europe. The sound of FC is weak.

Re: Mark III The Final Concerts

Considering what were reportedly/reputedly some fairly bad (or at least 'not up to 'snuff') recordings of the Graz & Paris concerts, I think a pretty good 'restoration' job was achieved...yes, it's still a great shame that more care(?) or something wasn't given to preserving more of the 1968/1976 era of live DP, both audio & visual (hell, audiovisual, too!). Still, I think it's great that such archive tapes can be 'brushed off' to sound as good as they do.

On the other hand, the Graz recordings on MIE really sounds like the dogs bollocks (and I mean that in the most positive way possible)! They surely don't sound like they need restoration, just bring 'em out and I'll scoop them up right away!

I'll have a double helping of that please ma'm, with some deep fried pig sphincters heaped on top, yes siree bob!

=)

Seriously, I meant that the Saarbrucken show should be released in its entirety -preferrably in a mini-vinyl style package mimicking a triple album, with a glorious fold out cover, disc inner sleeves, and the whole works, just the kind of thing I used to wish into existence back when MIE was new, and I phantasized over what the rest of the show was like.

Something like this:

Side 1:

Burn
Stormbringer
Lady Double Dealer

Side 2:

Mistreated

Side 3:

You Fool No One

Side 4:

The Gypsy
Smoke On The Water

Side 5:

Highway Star
Going Down

Side 6:

Space Truckin' (with the more pointless GH bits edited out)

Produced by Martin Birch with the same sound as MIE, with a similar design.

Imagine if that would have come out back in '76, and the NYC '76 or Philly '76 show would have been released instead of LCIJ in 1977, perhaps as "Made In America"...
