Go ask around. I think most people on here listen to a wide variety of bands.

Rahul, please read my post again! That was not my point, period.

And my point is that I haven't heard Smoke in ages. I've been listening to other stuff.

Are you giving advice to the members to this message board? Is this the "we" you are referring to?

Is your ground for that "a former hockey player's" inner life?

If so, piss off.

I'm advising anybody. "You" means "me" in that context. Can't get your point about "former hockey player". Are you insulting the guy? Nikky's one of the most intelligent persons I ever met, sorry if me or him hurt your sacred cow.

I'm not insulting your friend. I have absolutely no reason to.

Let's see what you wrote:

Here you are saying that your friend (the HE) still likes Purple&family but has become bored by it. Then you change from HE to WE. Okay, I don't understand it that way, but let's say that by WE you mean him and yourself.

But:

quote:

You can't listen to Smoke on the Water for millionth time or the same "classics" on endless bootlegs, DVDs and live shows. Now, by switching to YOU, I understand you (Tony) mean "one", a passive (I never understood that by YOU you (Tony) directly addressed the forum members), as in "if you (as in "one") rob a bank, you ("one") are likely to get caught".

You say, as you do, that "you cannot argue endlessly about which Mk was the "truest" one [...]." As you know, this is a DP message board, which mainly is about discussing DP related matters, but because people have other things in life as well, topics wary from DP to God knows what. So you (meaning you, Tony) are saying one can't do that "endlessly". Which is a direct snipe at members of this board.

A simple case of semantics at work.

OK, the semantic analysis is correct. But are not tired of the same topics around here?

Re: SAY GOODBYE TO MR.REAL JOHN MCCOY...

Cheers for the honesty, Tony.

Well, I'm not tired to them. This is because, firstly, like I wrote above, there are so many different topics people start and that coming here isn't a resposibility for me, it's just past-time activity which I like a lot. I post and reply to topics only if I feel like it.

Of course the same topics come and go a lot. It might be yet another "Top 10 favourite Blackmore solos" started by a veteran member or, every once in a while a newcomer starts asking questions of DP and related matters, often starting with very basic information and the also asking opinions of the veteran members.

As I said, I reply to, e.g., "why some people hate Stormbringer" only if I feel like it. If I, for some reason, would feel an obligation to reple, I stopped coming here.

And secondly, of course I come here because of the people, a bulk of whom I've known (via the board only, that is) for years now. A couple I consider friends, and majority mates. It's truly a fine community here.

My respect, Rezi! I never meant any offence to anyone here (I was here for a while myself in my previous life, you know? emoticon )

Yeah, I know about your previous life!

I'm sorry for the over-reaction. Had a bad day, I suppose.
