Celtic Legacy new album updates

Seeing as everyone has seen the banner which Niko has kindly posted on this forum, I'll just give you the latest update on The Third Level.

So far we have 7 songs and will be writing 3-4 more before we start recording the next album. This should happen in the next 6-8 weeks and will take a couple of months to complete. There isn't a definite release date set, but we are aiming to have the album available by early August. The cover sleeve will be designed by Mark Wilkinson who has just completed work on the new Judas Priest album.

Our new singer Damien has been eager to put his own stamp onto the material and his input into the songs has been fantastic. Also, returning drummer, Phil McEvoy hasn't been holding back either. There is a marked increase in overall input into the creative process this time out which is refreshing to hear.

In order to keep as much control over the recording process as possible, the band has invested in technology this time and set up Dirty Dog Studios, the sole purpose of which is to record Celtic Legacy material. This takes a huge cost off us as it means we aren't limited to a set period of time in a hired studio and can record as and when we like. It also means that we will have total say over the production/mixing/mastering this time.

For those who have been wondering...yes, there will be a pre-order campaign this time out too. While we've invested in the recording end of things, the packaging and manufacturing still needs to be accounted for, so once I have details of exactly what will be going on, I'll post it here. The tentative plan is to produce 1000 limited edition copies of The Third Level with a second bonus disk (probably of older CL music updated with the new line-up) and then release a single disk retail batch for general sale - the quantities of which have yet to be agreed upon.

Finally, the guys in Germany have decided to take the bull by the horn this time insofar as they have made plans to set up a record label to release the new album properly.

All in all, there's a lot of progress been made since Resurrection.

That Idea sucks! Just saving up material for later, "special releases"? Release for sale or don´t release.

Charming! Absolutely nothing to do with saving anything up. I don't know where the hell you got that idea from. It's called 'releasing a special edition for people who pre-order ONLY - thus saying "thank you" for making it possible' emoticon

I'm sorry but it's been a thoroughly SH!TE week!

Thanks for info, Celtic!
Looking forward to hear your new album!

Might be possible to find it in Norway, you think?

I don't understand what you think is wrong with releasing a special edition cd with bonus disc for the fans who've supported them. I for one am very much looking forward to hearing some updated versions of old CL songs.
