He was a remarkable musician, and a orginal one as well. I do see why he gets the respect he does - and deserves.

But most of his music is too 'heavy' for me. I very rarely listen to his albums.

I wonder what his kids are doing nowadays. I first heard of Frank Zappa when his daughter Moon Unit had that song about 20 years ago , "Valley Girl" I think.

Yes, she sang - or rather spoke - on 'Valley Girl'....another fine, if somewhat cynical, observation on life by Frank.

One of my favourites is 'Cosmic Debris'

"The price of meat has just gone up and your old lady has just gone down..."

F'ing brilliant!

If there was a compilation available, I'd get it.

...ahem (polite cough)...how about it, Milan? I'm sure we could come to some mutual swap arrangement.

Let me know what you think.

Problem is I can´t get you all of those, as my collection is divided onto CD and Vinyl, I don´t have all of those on CD, but I´ll see what I can do.

The list up there contains some tracks representative for the more jazzier, difficult, complex, weird and instrumental side of Zappa. Some of those have speech and some kind of vocals though, but they are all good tracks. Just nothing you´d find on "Strictly Commercial"(which is a sampler of Zappa´s more song oriented and easier accesible stuff, I´m sure you know that already).

I´m still at the start of course, though.
If you want to consult a real expert send a pm to "dirty dog"(who still is somtimes present somewhere here) he´s got all(sic), yes all of Zappa´s stuff(about 80 CDs).

Nay. I acknowledge him as very influential, but, what little of his music that I've heard (and it is very little), I didn't particualrly like. I'm certainly not very interested to listen to any more.

Styx, Deep Purple and Iron Maiden - music doesn't get any better than that
