Deep Purple : Day By Night
Work on my Deep Purple chronology, Day By Night, covering the pre-reunion period, is now nearing completion. The publishers aim to have it printed later this year. The book seeks to list every show (played or cancelled), together with many other significant events (such as recording sessions), together with a large collection of concert reviews, tickets, adverts and other associated material.
There is still time to help! Here's how:
- If you saw Deep Purple live (before the 1984 reunion) and can put some words together about the experience, however vague the memories.
- Or perhaps you've already put together something and it's on the 'net and you can point me towards where to find it.
- If you have any pre-reunion gig-related material (tickets, flyers, posters, adverts, press reviews, etc.) that you could loan, scan or copy for inclusion.
- If you have time to visit your local library newspaper archives for contemporary reviews and adverts for inclusion. (If you would like to check anything before your visit, please get in touch.)
- If you can help translate some French reviews.

Nigel, are there plans at the moment for a post-reunion book? Also, will Day By Night be available at DPAS only or will it be carried by other online stores such as Amazon etc.?

Christos, yes there are plans to follow up the book. To keep it down to a manageable size [it'll probably be more than twice the volume of Chris Charlesworth's book, as it is], post-reunion was the first thing to go.
Other distribution outlets are also being looked into.

I know you work very hard on your book, have
you a date for your "Day By Night" book.
The first message about the book came from
a year ago, any news ?.
