Re: How can we improve the forums?

Never fear, my friend - you earned my respect of your good humor...it'll be yours forever! emoticon Like Rahul said (in another context, true) "Someone has to be the poxy admin".

Anyway, one thing I'd like to suggest to everyone, maybe in particular to the newer users, is to look through the back pages of every board before posting a new topic. You just may find that your "new topic' has already been made, and all you have to do is post on it to bring it back to page 1. Never worry that the last post before yours might be a few months old - all new input is always welcomed. It won't take very long, and helps keep the boards from filling up to the 500 topic limit too quickly.
People may have noticed that some stuff is appearing on different boards that was previously buried in the back pages of the "Purple Discussions" + "Non-Purple" boards. I've tried to put them it what seems like more appropriate places, so don't anyone fear that they've entered a time warp or wormhole in the space/time continuum or anything. emoticon

How about actually discussing JLT, anyone tried that? emoticon

I tried that by moving the "Respect for JLT" thread from the Admins/Mods board to the JLT board. Check it out for yourself...and with that, I rest my case. emoticon / emoticon

I'm thinking that it may be time to add another Archives board (Archives III?), so we don't find older topics getting (unnecessarily) deleted.
 Whaddaya think, Milan...Rahul..Niko...BigJ...Brad?

Personally I dont feel we need more archives.

Threads that get deleted are very old. But it still needs to be voted upon by the rest.

I hate losing anything, so would go for the "more archives" option.

Archiving everything would be my vote. A lot of old stuff is still useful, particularly once it becomes properly searchable.

Yes, I live in hope that there will be a decent search utility on here eventually.

Well, hopefully someone more computer literate than I will go to the Administration board and create a new Archives board...I'd do it, but only the Lord knows what the result might be! emoticon I remember when Milan went to do something one day and wound up accidentally losing some data of some sort. And he knows what he's doing! emoticon
I have to say the real "problem" is with the "Non-Purple" topics. A helluva lot of things from "Purple Discussions" have (and likely still will) find their way onto other boards - Ritchie + related, JLT, Jon Lord, etc.,etc.
Perhaps one more Archive for each at this time would be a good idea...
