As to the answer to the thread's question, I think it's because Satriani's management made him "an offer he couldn'ta refused". Something along the lines of "How'd you like trying to play with two broken hands?" or "How d'ya think Mr.Gillan would like tryin' to sing with no tongue?"
Maybe your talking about what the mafia says to Jimi Jamison when he was about to join Purple.

No, Jamison's management was even too stupid to be in the Mafia.

Bootlegs are hard to find anywhere, unless you put some search time and effort into it.
The best way is to do some trading,it's so inexpensive you wouldn't believe, bootlegs in the shops are way over priced.
All you have to do to become a trader is contact me or one of the many generous traders in the bootleg section here.
We would be glad to help you at your own pace, and at very little cost at all.
The cost only includes the price of some blank cd's(very inexpensive)and then the shipping which can be expensive only if your doing alot of trading, which wouldn't be the case at first.
Try it sometime Randys, you will be happy to know that most of us will be glad to help.
Artwork can also be provided, some bootleg artwork is very nice, some of it not.
When I met Gillans micstand over the summer, I asked him if he had any of the Satriani concerts. My jaw dropped when he said, "of course," like it was a given. So if it's that easy, I'm anxious to get started, too - when I get a better computer and when I move back to The States.

Re: Why there is no Mk6 live album???
Just as a guess right off the top of my head, I think at least 20 of the 30 or so concerts that Joe Satriani played with Deep Purple as their lead guitarist are available on bootlegs of varying quality - and the quality of a lot of them is definitely of 'officially releasable' or very high calibre quality.
The musical performances are high quality, too.

Re: Why there is no Mk6 live album???
I have the bootleg of the concert in Ghent.
Though I would be more interested in having an "official" MkV live.
