Favorite Joe Satriani Studio Album - Pick 3
Always one of my favorite guitarists, since the mid '80s, anyway! I'm still upset he couldn't accept the full time job as Purple's guitarist!
Anyhoo, pick your favorite 3 Satriani studio album(s)..."The Electric Joe Satriani - An Anthology" is included as it contains re-masters of nearly all his best songs...

I've only got the first 3, so they got my vote!

Re: Favorite Joe Satriani Studio Album - Pick 3
Just have "Flying in a blue dream" and "G3"...I find instrumental guitar-hero albums quite boring.
With the exception of some Morse albums (for some weird and unknown reason, they relaxe me).

Re: Favorite Joe Satriani Studio Album - Pick 3
They are all good, but
Crystal Planet
The Extremist
Joe Satriani
more less put him to the test.
If there was a fourth I would pick
Flying In A Blue Dream,
while not a masterpeice,it's a cool album
with just a few too many funky bits that don't exactly sound genuine."Strange" sounds too much like a Cameo outtake. If he had stayed in Purple I would not have wanted an album like FIABD.
On JS he barrowed a couple of things from Ritchie,
but who wouldn't after just having replaced him for a tour?????????
He seemed alot more relaxed than ever on JS as well.

Re: Favorite Joe Satriani Studio Album - Pick 3
Well im a big Joe fan so i pretty much enjoy all his albums
My personal favourites are Surfing with the Alien, Strange Beautiful Music, Time Machine.
I also enjoyed his latest two aswell, Is There Love In Space and Super Collosal
Flying In A Blue Dream is a decent album(the song is excellent), but i think Joe is better suited to doing instrumentals, thats where his strengths lie
You can't knock any guitarist who steps up on a moments notice and plays all of Blackmores songs faultlessly and even manages to enjoy himself, if you ask me Satch is a fantastic guitarist
