Re: Best Joe Lynn Turner solo album?
I got seven solo albums:
"Holy Man", "Hurry Up And Wait", "JLT", "Nothing's Changed", "Slam" and the two "Under Cover"'s. In my opinion "Hurry Up" is the best closely followed by "Slam".

In all fairness, I tried to refrain from posting on this topic in regards to the subject since it was started. I thought I was pretty successful. But, now that you've asked -
First let me say that I feel I'd be remiss if I didn't point out that the topic title sentence itself uses terms in itself that are mutually exclusive: "Best";"Joe Lynn Turner" + "album".
Sorry, those words/terms all in one sentence just make hardly any sense to me.

Re: Best Joe Lynn Turner solo album?
I hadn't listened to "Rescue You" in about 15 years (makes me feel like an old geezer and I'm only 34) and last nite I gave it a shot (on vinyl). I only made it halfway through "Young Hearts". The recording quality is pretty good but man that eighties production just ruins it for me. In many ways, "Rescue You" should have been a commercial hit. It's not THAT far from the latter Rainbow albums, albeit even more commercial. But I don't think it holds a candle to the two HTP CDs, which I must happily admit, kick mighty ass.

Rescue You is WAY to commercial for me. It's OK if you view it as a pop album, but the tunes mostly are weak. Considering that it was recorded between great Bent out of Shape and Odyssey it was a big let down for me first time I heard it. Heartless, the tune JLT did for some soundtrack at the time is much better. Still a treasure to have from a
collector's point of view. Now the best solo albums (we are not talking HTP, Mother's Army and Brazen Abbot here?) are
1. Holy Man
2. Slam.
3/4. Undercover 1&2
These are essential!
5. JLT
6. Hurry up and wait
7. Nothing's changed
8. Rescue you

Re: Best Joe Lynn Turner solo album?
Recently, I've been rediscovering "Holy Man" and been enjoying it more than should be allowed! I bought it back in 2000 and remembered it as a good rocking cd. Listening back to it, with hindsight, it's a very solid release. The japanese guitarist is very good and how about a line up as JLT/Bonamassa/Greg Smith/Paul Morris? Best solo album? Don't know, but together with the following "Slam", it makes for a great couple of bluesy purplish sounding albums.
