Bolin with Purple today instead of Morse
I think it would be an interesting line up:
Gillan
Glover
Paice
Bolin
Airey
I think Bolin and Gillan would of been great alongside each other on stage.

Re: Bolin with Purple today instead of Morse
If you listen to the "Energy Radio Broadcasts" discs, I think you get half a sense of what Bolin plus Gillan might equal, as Jeff Cook was very bluesy but light-hearted and yet rootsy in his delivery, unlike Coverdale, who is just too corny (ditto Hughes - they both take themselves far too seriously) to be really light-hearted - a Bolin / Gillan combo sure would have had some Dionysian flow.
Scarily, it might have gotten to that point like where Sinatra and Dean Martin got in the early 70s (when they were too old be hip in pop culture - though of course it came around again - though the Neil Diamond resurgence I find less understandable), but their records were really a scream - I have one of Frank at the Sands in Las Vegas, where it is half stand-up comedy! It is easy to envision Tommy and Ian as the "old sops humor revue" if their frames would have allowed it -
How about Tommy with David Lee Roth?

Wrong genre
(a shocked, stunned silence)
But... Bolin with Glover? No groove? No funk? No style?
Unthinkable!
And Gillan can hardly sing these days anyway. To think of a croaking Gillan and a bloated, bald Bolin on the same stage, with the cheesy 80:s synth sounds of Mr.Star Wars...shudder!
That's not comedy, that's horror!

I think Tommy is past being bloated by now.It would certainly be a rotten experience.

Well, you know,as much as I love Bolin,he worked very hard to end up where he did.A little morbid levity never hurt nobody.

I bet even Tommy gets a chuckle...I'm positive the Ghost of Tommy Bolin does. /

Re: Bolin with Purple today instead of Morse
Actually, if drugs hadn't played their part in MkIV's history, that line-up would have stayed on longer (obviously).
Maybe it would have been MkIV that had re-united in 1984 instead of MkII. We would never have seen Gillan and Bolin in the same band.
Think of it, Coverdale singing in a 1980s reunion DP. I bet the album wouldnät have been calle Perfect Strangers... more like Perfect Sliding, or something.
