posticon When the gear fails!

Don`t you just hate it when you are trying to do a gig and the gear decides to get some gremlins.

Last night we were playing at a rock pub, and right at the start of our second set the singer`s mic went off - COMPLETELY and without warning.

Cue much fiddling about with the amp, leads etc - a new lead didn`t make a blind bit of difference, and in the end the mic was put into a different input. Then the sound was fuzzy and low and needed a lot of tweaking to get it sounding halfway decent.

Added to which, my keyboard monitor wasn`t working properly and so I couldn`t hear what I was playing. I turned it up fully, and it just seemed to get quieter.

When the manager came to pay us at the end of the night he said we had sounded crap, which was a bit tight all things considered.

The worst of it is - all the money we earned will probably have to go towards getting the amp fixed, as there must be something wrong with it. emoticon

I feel (or I should say "have felt") your pain in the past.

Club owners are all about the business end of things. They're more than happy to tell you the obvious...that is, what went wrong.

If the daft bloke had taken the time to watch you, he'd have seen that you were probably doing all in your power to make it better, and that it wasn't your fault. At least not directly. Yet, he made no attempt to acknowledge that to you.

Well...to bad, but hopefully you'll prove him wrong the next time you play there with your amp fixed.

Yes, I too hate it when those things happen.

That would be enough to piss anyone off.

If it happened to me I'd be after him with a baseball bat. emoticon
