Spanish Gigs

Living here in Spain, I'm really looking forward to this week's gigs but I'm concerned how many people wil be there as I haven't seen any promotion other than one poster in Madrid about three months ago. None of my Spanish friends have heard anything on TV or radio or seen anything in the press. No editorials in the two English language monthly papers in Madrid and one doesn't even mention the gig at all, not even in the "what's on" section. Any idea how ticket sales are?

Haven't you heard any of the misleading adverts with Ritchie Blackmore and Jon Lord playing SOTW,WFT and Highway Star in the background. Did the promoters finally realize that this is a Blackmore tribute band and not the real deal and cancel the adverts?
Uh Oh, I hear LarRYinHiSCar coming along. BETteRSKeDDadle

Ha ha ha here I am buddy.
this is an easy one.
The concert radio promotion
has always been this way.

I distinctly remember during the
Perfect Stranger's tour hearing
Burn and Hush in the background.

They don't give a rat's ass
about detail's in promotion
and neither do the band.
They concentrate on the music
and leave the merch and promo's
to the marketer's.

Marketing suck's but it play's
a big part in everything these day's.
I just wish they would employ people
to do !@#$ right and give some respect to the fan's.

For instance if I were in Deep Purple
I would make damn sure they weren't
using mk111 logo's onstage or anywhere else
to promote the current lineup.

Don't give me any crap about how
the mk111 logo backdrop got there
for the current Bananas tour,
trust me it's out of the hand's of
the band member's.
But by being politaclly incorrect they
are disgracing theirselve's.

But they probably don't see the backdrop until
the first date of a tour and by then it's too late.

Absolute incompetence from the band,
management
promoter's and marketing dept.

You really don't think they have anything to do with the backdrop. Is it like Ozzy and Sharon with the FU^$%#ING bubbles?
"[sign in to see URL]'m Ozzy FU%$#CKING [sign in to see URL] of FU&^$%*CKING [sign in to see URL] can't FU^%&CKING play in front of F^%$*CKING bubbles"
The radio promotion with SOTW,HS,WFT and Hush is the only way to get people to buy the tickets. You think if they played Ted the Friggin Mechanic rap tune and excerpts from /- that people would buy tickets? Everyone would go "who the FU*&%^CK is that?". That don't sound like Deep Purple. Maybe on this tour if they use a bit of HOP or the chorus to POI, you might get a reaction.

VH-1 used, back in 1999, in their TV add(they presented the tour) snippets from Smoke(at the end) and therefore the solo of Cascades and the chorus of Fingers To The Bone.

Re: Spanish Gigs

This is true and fair as well,
hahahaha, that Im Ozzy osbourne the prince of f***ing
darkness is the funniest thing on that
show I have ever seen,my wife and I
crack up every time I resite that one.

Hahahahahahahahaha Sharon has some pretty stupid Ideas.
I have seen Ozzy 4 times with Sabbath
and 3 times on his own including the
Blizzard of Ozz tour w/Randy Rhoads and Don Airey
and Diary Of A Madman also w/Airey.
I have also met him at two in stores
at the record shop where I worked
and sat there next to him for hours
and he was(at the time) a very nice cool person.

That shop I worked at I have also met
countless rock star's including
Ronaldo(thtat's what he likes me to call him)Dio
Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
and too many other's to mention
that was the best thing about that job
accept for maybe having first crack at
all of the import singles I could get
my hand's on cause I managed the import
section witch was half the store branched
off to one side of the building at the time.
Those day's are long gone and now the place
is owned by a jerk that just doesn't get it.
