Re: Best Deep Purple DVD?
Is "Bombay Calling" still available? I think it is excellent. Way better than "Perihelion". Some didn't like the camera work, but I thought that it actually added to the overall enjoyment of the DVD.
Eary Morse, before he really started to add too much widdle. "Purpendicular Waltz" before the album was released. Gillan sounding pretty good, except for CIT, although the crowd loved it, being the first time that Purple played in their country.
It is the best of the MKMorse stuff, IMHO.
They really need to pry some of the classic stuff from Dick Clark's hands before he assumes room temperature and it ends up who knows where, if you get my drift.

i think it is,
Aniway, Sanity.com sells a different version of "Bombay Calling", that includes additional footage from a 1995 South Korean broadcast.
details:

if anyone knows where to find it cheaper, i would bew very interested, since i don't own the original release either.

That's what I did! I rented Total Abandon & the EP....both excellent though the EP is too darn short...I recommend Total Abandon (that's the live show from Australia).

Agreed.Total Abandon is amazing. The intro to SOTW is great.Speed King is great. Only that I'd like to hear Fingers to the Bone or Any Fule Kno That instead of Watching the Sky and Almost Human.

Re: Best Deep Purple DVD?
I'm just back from a bussiness trip to Aberdeen. When walking through Union Street I popped into a music store where I have bought both Bombay calling (with the additional Seoul bit) and Live Encounters (Katowice). What a treat, really awsome both of them, although Seoul is of less quality. Both were mine for 30 GBP. I think I like them better (for the moment) than "Total Abandon" and "Perihilion" because these are the first ones with Steve and furthermore they hold some unexpected songs (Hey Cisco, Rosa's Cantina and Child in Time). Anyway don't hesitate to buy them when not in your possesion yet.

Dynamo stadium Russia 1996 remains a favorite bootleg, but the winner for official

Re: Best Deep Purple DVD?
There's no available DVD of Deep Purple that will be considered worth owning for. Not even Total Abandon, even for its video production but not sounding Purple. Purple had the chance to showcase it in '93 but Ritchie blew the chance. Darn!
