Demon's eye and the DVD

As anyone heard the Demon's eye GILLAN version that now figures on the new dvd?
BTW, has anyone bought that dvd yet?The review on the THS site doesn't make me want to buy it.Plus they say it's at a low price, which I don't think it is!

Re: Demon's eye and the DVD

All I understand is that somebody makes a lot of money with these releases, which always give too less music for a too high price.
Every single fan would like to get Doing Their Thing complete and in the right order on DVD with some special stuff (because Doing Their Thing is very short). But there must be other stuff than the Gillan tracks, which are very good but don't belong here! When this Gillan show came out on DVD they left away two tracks, only to release this show later again with these two songs?!
Where is the POP DEUX stuff from 1970? That would be a good addition to Doing Their Thing! There is also a video record from Böblingen 1971 in colour! And I'm still waiting for the Hofstra University show 1973, too, but that seems to be a difficult thing...

Excerpts from the Böblingen concert were showed in German TV when they reportet about the Deep Purple tour 2001 there. You could see them playing Highway Star. There should be more of this gig in the archive...

I have the 1990 Gillan DVD, which also has SOTW, Demon's Eye and WABC amongst other Naked Thunder and older Ian solo stuff. The take on Demon's Eye is a decent one I suppose, especially in the vocal department where our man does a fantastic job. The highlight of the Purple tracks on that DVD for me is definitely the stirring When A Blindman Cries, done a bit differently than the recent Morse version with an awesome Gillan delivery.

I must say I like the Gillan 'Naked Thunder' era band version of WABMC, especially the lead in keyboard from the late Tommy Eyre....magic stuff!
