Come Hell or High Water
Is 'Smoke on the Water' on the end of the CHOHW DVD from the same concert as the rest of the songs? I just noticed Ian (Gillan) is wearing a different vest, and Roger is playing a different bass.

Re: Come Hell or High Water
I'm pretty sure that it was all the same venue but I can't actually say for certain, IG has always changed clothes throughout performances and the bass Roger is playing is his old Rickenbacker that he used on Machine Head and by that time it was extremely worn so it was only used for one or two special songs.

Re: Come Hell or High Water
It indeed IS the same venue and IG is usually changing clothes during gigs. This only is unusually late(in Nürnberg it was after the second song).
When he comes to the stage with the new vest you can see him demonstrativly picking it over his chest. Like you do when you say:"It´s hot, I´m sweating".

Re: Come Hell or High Water
I think it was just before KAYBD,when someone actually threw a vest up on the stage at him,he then changed into it between song's.

Re: Come Hell or High Water
hehee it's not good, in my opinion. Nar it is good in a way although last time i watched it i noticed all the shocking points. One giveaway that SOTW is from the same gig is that the camera keeps showing the same woman which it filmed all night and gillan seems to keep saying stuff and waving too

Re: Come Hell or High Water
I think Gillan lets it down overall with his awful rendition of Child In Time and general poor state of his voice and Paicey and Roger's performances were workman like at best but Jon was his usual magnificent self and Blackers was on fire.
But I think primarily it's there as a historical document, you can almost feel the tension within the band as you watch it.
