Re: Masters From The Vault
Why have they mixed the Beat Club tracks with Doing Their Thing?!?! Nevermind, think I know the answer on that one! Haven't got my copy yet (will get round to it eventually) but the people putting this (and the Gillan, Beat Club and Sabbath) DVD out are complete imbeciles. End of story.

Re: Masters From The Vault
These are many opinions. Did anyone buy this DVD?

Gia su Apostoli, an den ehis to Doing Their Thing se videokasseta tote isos axizei (logo tis poli hamilis timis) alla oi tipoi pu to vgazoun passaroun xanazestameno fagito prospathontas na prosthesoun kai allo os epi to pleiston asheto iliko pu ine idi diathesimo. Just explaining the situation in Greek here, in a nutshell, yeah, it is a rip off unless you fancy owning DTT on DVD.

Re: Masters From The Vault
I don't think I'll bother, I have the Beat Club and Gillan DVDs (and there's plenty wrong with those two to begin with) and buying this one will only encourage these idiots to keep exploiting old footage further. Love the way they've mixed up the tracks and also listed a non-existing Hush on the sleeve. Could it be any more shoddy?!

More power to people like you, Christos. Only if releases such as this shoddy one are ignored will the unserious companies out there stop releasing them.

Re: Masters From The Vault
Some help about MOV :
I dont got DTT and Beat-Club DVD-EP, but I got Gillan stuff (VHS). so to me is very cool get DTT and Beat Club at DVD format, but is really true that DPAS wil SOON released this stuff (both and in the same package as MOV is) with a superior quality or not ? cos if they do it I'll save my money.

Re: Masters From The Vault
My understanding is that S. Robinson has been trying to secure all 70s footage that has been circulating amongst collectors for years, ranging from the Beat Club stuff to the Rises Over Japan vid, and present it in a coherent package, with cleaned up and reworked sound that does them justice. Think New Live & Rare 1984-2000 only for pre-reunion stuff strictly.
This obviously needs a lot of work, from securing rights to the footage used (and when this comes from all sorts of different sources this is probably harder than it sounds) to remastering it etc. If you don't have Beat Club on DVD or DTT then I suppose this one could be a -relatively- handy release.
I can't be bothered with it personally cos a) I have the Gillan and Beat Club DVDs and b) there's plenty of stuff I can think of buying with my money other than rehashed jammy releases so... It's all a matter of priorities!

I think you'll find that "This DVD offers a great overview of the rich history of this band" doesn't mean it includes a commentary - rather that the collection of footage itself "offers a great overview of the rich history of this band".

Did you ever find your commentary Larry?
