Re: Only in fantasy....
The screams would certainly be no problem for him but I don't know if he's capable of singing the verse without ruining it by not keeping within the spirit of the song.

Re: Only in fantasy....
I don't think he's got much to add to the song or indeed a real connection with it. Then again that is what I was saying about Mistreated a few years back.

Re: Only in fantasy....
What might be interesting would be if they played it back when he was in DP,with David doing the verses and Glenn the screams.

Re: Only in fantasy....
I think there are some songs that just shouldn,t be messed with.
Imagine by Lennon
Alright Now by Free and many others spring to mind. Child in Time is a Purple classic that I dont wish to hear butchered by anyone, including other Purple family.

Re: Only in fantasy....
What did you think of the Ian Gillan Band's version then? I thought it was pretty good, espcially as I didn't think the song could be touched.
Still wasn't in the league of the original mind...

No it´s just another brilliant song in itself that just happens to have the same lyrics.
I love it as what it is, it´s of course no comparison to the Deep Purple version but as what it is it´s classy and does quite a lot for me.

Re: Only in fantasy....
I think that Glenn has larger range than Ian Gillan ( it was unpossible for me to time when I heard Burning Live In Japan and Glenns "we don´t have no TIIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!"), but range isn´t all!!! Ian have better feeling from his songs. Glenn sing it like something foreign... Like something what isn´t his job.

Re: Only in fantasy....
It was awful enough to hear him sing Smoke on the Water and Highway Star the last time he was here with JLT. Stay away from Purple tunes you don't have a real connection to, Glenn!
