Glenn's contribution to CTTB....
... strikes me as fairly limited.
Apart from the two vocal showcases (TTA and Gettin' Tighter) there's precious little to be heard of his voice - only on You Keep On Moving. Compared to Burn and Stormbringer where he sings a lot of the bridges and takes complete verses on a lot of the songs, CTTB seems to have very little of Hughes.
I know this coincided with some problems for Glenn, which is why Comin' Home has Bolin on bass. Is this the reason for the minimal contributions?

I don't know,good question though.
I happen to think that TTA is so damn good that it more than makes up for his lack of space on the album.
Man I love that song!

To me GH contribuitions were far better developed at Stormbringer IMO and Holy Man is still my fave GH song.

Yeah I haven't thought about it before but he is fairly checked out on that album...perhaps the problems were the reason.

Re: Glenn's contribution to CTTB....
One story I heard was that he had hepatitis, another elaborated that the hepatitis was caused by excessive drug use and that he was in rehab for a lot of the time the album was being recorded. I don't know which, if either, is closest to the truth.

Re: Glenn's contribution to CTTB....
It seemed to me that Glenn did his bits (GT, TTA + YCOM) and wasn't that involved with the rest of the album, much like Lord. It was more a case that he went off and came up with three songs on his own while Coverdale and Bolin wrote the majority of the record.

Re: Glenn's contribution to CTTB....
I'm pretty sure I've read he was drugged out during this period....and I know for a fact he was getting pretty well out of it in that dept in 75-76 (just listen to those horrible live recordings. I could ask him this weekend about CTTB as I'll be seeing him at the DVD shoot......Except every time I meet Glenn I can never remember any of the questions I wanted to ask.....and also I always think of them after I meet him.
