Mean Fiddler
Was it just me or was the sound at tonight's gig bloody awful? Glenn was in fine voice but the guitar and keyboards seemed buried for much of the time.
Anyone record it?

Re: Mean Fiddler
So what was the show like then? Was the setlist any different from the previous UK gigs? Did Glenn record tonight's show? C'mon we're chomping at the bit here!

Re: Mean Fiddler
I thought the gig was bloody brilliant!!! My ears are still wringing! The sound was a bit poor for the opening act (I didn't catch their name but they were quite good), but I thought Glenn's sound was fairly good and he was on top form!!

Re: Mean Fiddler
The set seemed to be the same as Bradford but with a slight change in running order. Glenn's voice was amazing. The highlight (for me) was Gettin' Tighter, followed closely by YKOM and Seventh Star.
Shame the sound wasn't better - more to do with the small size of the venue than anything. It was too loud - but fortunately my ears are not ringing because I learnt to use ear plugs properly many years ago .

Re: Mean Fiddler
I couldn,t get a good view from downstairs but from behind the partition upstairs it sounded good. I only went on a last minute decision and have not heard any GH since I saw him with DP... must admit the bloke is bloody good. I think he should replace Gillan in Purple and bring JJ along as well to replace Morse. Then Purple might get back to playing decent hard rock.

Re: Mean Fiddler
I was standing at the front row, at stage right. Couldn't believe the view we got. That's the best position I've ever been in for any gig ever! Got to shake Glenn's hand, and the drummer's too. Glenn shook my girlfriends hand as well, much to her bemusment. She has no idea who Glenn Hughes is. She complained that Glenn had sweaty hands!
The gig was excellent. The mix was not a problem for me, but there were occasions when Glenn's bass was just louder than everything else. This was especially evident on Burn, when Glenn's bass out did both the guitar solo and the key solo!
But it was a fabulous gig. Setlist included a lot of new material which was great to see, as well as a few classics scattered here and there. No Blue Jade unfortunately, but at least we got Burn.
Getting Tighter was incredible. Seventh Star amazing. My girlfriend, an R&B fan for whom this was her first ever rock gig, turned to me in astonishment, and said 'how the hell does he sing like that?' She admitted she'd never seen anything like this. You just don't get that from listening to Destiny's Child!
I think the guy next to me summed it up, during one of Glenn's vocal workouts at the end of Mistreated, when he turned to his mate and said 'when he's on that form, he's untouchable'.
Quite.

Re: Mean Fiddler
So, Rahul, you weren't tempted to go to Loftus Rd for a "collectors item" London win? Shame they couldn't have played on another night .

Re: Mean Fiddler
I bought my tickets for Hughes before I realised that game was on then, so I had no choice. However, someone on my training course actually had a spare ticket and offered it to me. I had to decline though and said I was off to a gig. I got the usual response of 'Glenn who?'
But what a match! Same old Shearer, always scoring!
Off to the Portsmouth game on Saturday. Here's hoping for another Shearer masterclass!
