riffs/solos...Blackmore vs.Page vs.Iommi
I name these three for resons of being so indentifiable.
I see them this way:
riffs and solos - Blackmore and Page have the edge for me alltogether, but I can never lean more toward one than the other for some strange reason.
Riffs - Blackmore-Iommi-Page,in that order
solos - Blackmore-Page-Iommi,in that order
Tony Iommi is no slouch, and just might have the edge over both in the riff department, depending on who you ask.

Actually I think Iommi is much better player than the Sabbath albums showcase, some of his live stuff is great.
All three are pretty unique, whic is unique in itself, very hard to choose.

Re: riffs/solos...Blackmore vs.Page vs.Iommi
Riffs:
Iommi - Blackmore - Page
(Tony is by far the better rythmn player, but a few of Ritchie's riffs blow Tony's out of the water)
Solos:
Blackmore - Iommi - Page
As song writers working on their own, I will say that the order is Page - Blackmore - Iommi. When collaborating with others I will rate it Iommi & Blackmore - Page.

Re: riffs/solos...Blackmore vs.Page vs.Iommi
...Great points to be highly considered, and Page gets his due for writing, producing an arranging.
I only give him aminute edge over Iommi in soloing, due to a bit better taste in veriety.

Re: riffs/solos...Blackmore vs.Page vs.Iommi
Riffs:
Blackmore, Iommi, Page
I often find Page's riffs to get rather boring after hearing a few times, and I rate Blackmore ahead of Iommi simply because of monster riffs such as SOTW, Burn and Kill the King.
Solos:
Blackmore, Page, Iommi
I agree with "RFBach" here that Sabbath wasn't the greatest showcase for Iommi's abilities, but he is definateley far less diverse than Blackmore and Page. I rate Blackmore ahead of Page because he can play massive 5-10 minute solos without getting boring (or resorting to playing his guitar with a bow ), I also like Blackmore's style more personally.

Re: riffs/solos...Blackmore vs.Page vs.Iommi
Riffs - Blackmore, Iommi, Page
Solos - Blackmore, Iommi, Page
The only thing I'll add here is that Iommi's solos live tend to be note for note with the studio version. This is not a bad thing, as most of his solos are superb. Its just that he doesnt have the ability to improvise while playing live as well as Blackmore and Page.
