Arrow Classic Rock radio station

Can anyone else in Britan pick this thing up?

Driving long distance a few weeks ago, I was flicking through the radio stations, and came across this Dutch Classic Rock station.

I got it on 654 MW.

It played some fantastic rock tunes, and while the audio quality only flitted from decent to awful, it was still refreshing to hear something differnet on the radio other than all the usual tripe.

Which begs the question, why do I have to listen to inaudible Dutch radio, or buy a posh radio (Planet Rock on DAB) to listen to good rock music in Britan? A country that damn near defined the genre?

Why is Britain so eager to forget it's vast musical heritage?

Anyway, I digress. Anyone else in Britain able to pick this station up?

I tried and managed to get a really, really faint signal and heard Carry On by CSN&Y, an advert for the Arrow Rock Festival and some Dutch radio commercials.....

The signal does vary a lot. I can't pick it up at all in my house, but in the car, I can!

So not only do I have to listen to dodgy Dutch radio, or buy a posh radio, to listen to good music, I also have to sit outside in the car to do it!

You probably do not have a MW antenna in the house! Many times MW antennas has an extra slot on the reciever, because they are normally designed differently than the FM antenna.

Read a bit about antennas, don´t ask in the local hi-fi shop, they most probably doesn´t have a clue. By uptimizing the antenna to the frequency (wavelength) you use/want you will recieve an improved signal. And if a bit handy, it will not be expensive at all.

So you want to dig into the radio amateure books/magazines/shops to get advice. After all, they are transmitting and recieving radio-signals from all over the globe. Then you translate their input into something economically sane, and bare in mind that there´s a wavelength to be considered.

Sorry I can´t be more precise, it´s many years since I have been playing with that. But if you can recieve it in your car just outside your house, you can be 100 percent sure, that with the correct setup, you can recieve it in the house too. And that does not have to be expensive.
