Don Airey - Going Home.

It's a big of a surprise. It's not a rock concept album in the style of K2, in fact it's not a rock album at all, it's a jazz album. (The track "Suite for Bill Evans" should have given it away.) It's mostly solo piano with just drums and bass on a few tracks. The playing is superb, and the compositions are all varied and interesting.

If you like instrumental jazz, I highly recommend this emoticon

And where did you get this?

Nevermind, I found it on his website and ordered it!

Cheers.

Cats In Space - Scarecrow

I bought it at the Glasgow DP show after being impressed with the band.

Wow - what an album! The songwriting, arrangements, production and performances are amazing. Like someone took all the best things about Queen, ELO, Supertramp, Styx, Boston, 10cc and glam rock and blended them all together.

The track "Two Fifty Nine" in particular is very clever.

What he said emoticon

To be honest, I at first thought the album was a bit flat after their (excellent) live shows, but after a few plays it really grew on me. Highly recommended if you like any of the bands BigJ listed.
