I got the set of Cozy's three solo albums. I'd only heard Over the Top before, and not even heard that since my cassette (my what??? emoticon ) went missing over 30 years ago (!!! emoticon ).

Over The Top holds up really well, it's at least as good now as it was in my memory. Not just Cozy, but all the musicians. It feels like a supergroup, not just a drummer's album.

I was tempted to buy the set, but then I saw all those (same) extra tracks on OtT, and it stopped me from buying [sign in to see URL] comments about those x-tra tracks?

I do own OtT on cd and the two others on Lp.

I'd really like a Cozy collection album featuring his early 45 rpm (Dance with devil, Na Na Na,...).

The extra tracks are pointless (in my opinion) but you're not forced to listen to them emoticon

It's a very weird set of extras, mostly isolated backing tracks for the guitars. So on "Sweet Poison (lead guitar)" for example it has a long period of silence when the guitar doesn't play on the track!

Interesting to listen to for a student of guitar, maybe, or if you're playing drum karaoke!

That's about what I thought. Thanx!

Re:

Don Airey - Going Home.

It's a big of a surprise. It's not a rock concept album in the style of K2, in fact it's not a rock album at all, it's a jazz album. (The track "Suite for Bill Evans" should have given it away.) It's mostly solo piano with just drums and bass on a few tracks. The playing is superb, and the compositions are all varied and interesting.

If you like instrumental jazz, I highly recommend this emoticon
