Re: Buy any new albums lately?

Oh dear, I'm a bit at odds with a lot of the - what sounds like - interesting stuff here. I got or was given jazz, jazz, jazz this Christmas.
1) Bud Powell
2) Dexter Gordon
3) Sonny Rollins
Those guys were doing things that set them apart way back then

Re: Buy any new albums lately?

For xmas I got the following cds/dvd:

Deep Purple - Made in Europe. My bro had the live album, but this is the first chance I've had to listen to it on cd. The sound quality is still better on album. Would like to see this get remasterd. Great cd and a must for all rock fans.

Blue Oyester Cult - Curse of the hidden Mirror. Great freaking album!! Love it from start to finish. My fellow college alumni Mr. Dharma, proves why he is one of the greatest guitar players ever, and by far the MOST UNDER-RATED of all time. I love the songs Dance on Stilts, Eye of A Hurricane, Old Gods Return, and the 2nd from last track (title evades me now). highly recommend it to anyone.

Yngwie Malmsteen - Attack. Another good album. Doogie's presence made a major impact IMHO. Very good [sign in to see URL] a matter of fact, I think its the best orignal Yngwie album since Trilogy. I recommend this one as well.

Led Zepplin DVD - How the West Was Won. Not a big Zep fan, but THE WIFE got it for me as a gift. I must say that some of the performances are extremely outstanding, especially Live At the Royal Albert Hall in 1970. I am impressed.

HOPEFULLY DP can take a lesson from this and try to package a similar release from the 1970s that concentrates on the Mark 2 line-up and includes the Hofstra footage.

Kings of Leon - basic RnR, no guitar solo. the lead singer/guitarrist had been photographed with a Difficult to Cure Rainbow t-shirt.

Not sure about it being Yng's best album since Trilogy but it was a great record alright and one I played a lot in 2002. Dougie definitely lifted some of those songs to a better level with his contributions.

Do you mean "soldes" time? I mean, do CD prices go down in January?
