Wishbone Ash - Argus (for £5!)

My thoughts on Argus will follow shortly.

Hurry, up then!emoticon

Now, look into my eyes: You love it, you think it´s a brilliant record, the best you bought in ages!--Log in or sign up to see linked image content--

Erm, no, not the best I've bought in ages. Celtic Legacy and HTP fall into that category! I'll need to listen to it a few more times, but initial impressions are that the guitar work stands out above everything else - stunning in places. I'm not so sure about the vocals though - in comparison with other rock bands of that era there's nothing distinctive about the lead vocals. But as I said, some more spins required.

Got these yesterday (you just gotta love Amazon for delivering on time! emoticon)

Queensryche Empire

Deep Purple S/T

Deep Purple Shades Of Dee Purple (had to get the remasters of these on CD)

Rainbow Rising (the only remastered Rainbow CD I had yet to acquire)

Dio Holy Diver (strangely enough I never had this one on CD)

Nickelback The Long Roadd

Quatermass II Long Road (first time I hear anything of them, VERY cool album, are their 70s efforts similar to this in style?)

Judas Priest Painkiller (had to get the remaster, the two bonus cuts absolutely smoke)

Harem Scarem Weight Of The World (fantastic album)

Pride Of Lions Sound Of Home (this one's a CD single essentially)

Oops, forgot a couple;

Iced Earth The Reckoning (another CD single, Ripper from Priest on the vocals)

Joe Lynn Turner - JLT (from the one time I've spinned this it sounds like his best solo album so far, very Purplesque)

I loved Ripper with Priest, IMO he sings the Halford parts better than Rob himself. emoticon The Iced Earth single with him on sounds pretty good, it is 4 tracks basically which are a taster of their upcoming album. Don't really think their old singer, Matt Barlow can compare with Ripper if you ask me, it's like putting a BMW next to rollerblades. emoticon

Jesus Christ Superstar (the original, with Gillan) arrived today. I haven't listened to it yet though.

Btw, is it the John Gustafson who I think it is on this one?

Exactly. Simon Zealotes. He´s brilliant. King Herod´s song is another favourite. It´s brilliant as it´s combining so many styles that supringly good fit together and the atmosphere is great.

BTW: Jon Hiseman did the drumming on the original album version of Cats!emoticon
