Well, that's me out, then! Even in my mid-forties, give me 'In Rock' any day. Still, I like a bit of funk and soul, so 'Stormbringer' is cool as a one-off.

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Stormbringer
I love that album, even though the production is flat (Martin "Wafer Thin" Birch), it has some truly great songs and the live versions are even better. The cover is excellent, which is rare in a DP album, and the band logo is also excellent. I wish the band had kept using that logo on all subsequent albums, not having a new logo on each one. Just look how great it looks on MIE and on the recent concert promo posters.

That's just a matter of taste. Personally, I think the cover is in danger of falling into dreaded 'sword and sorcery' territory. The covers for all the Mark 2 albums are all far better, IMO, especially 'Machine Head'.

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Stormbringer
I really love this album, it's one of my favorite Deep Purple albums (along with Burn and Come Taste the Band-sure there's others too). Whitesnake never had what Deep Purple had, I wish he had brought along Glenn Hughes (but he was on too much drugs) but he did bring Paice and Lord-so...

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Stormbringer
Good vocals, good bass playing, one extraordinairy song (Soldier of Fortune) and a nice sleeve. So, a good album, even without Mr. Blackmore.

Though Bolin was a great replacement.

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Stormbringer
Last night I played the album, but I decided to hit the shuffle button and a great running order unfolded...
1 Stormbringer
2 Hold On
3 Holy Man
4 Love Don't Mean A Thing
5 Lady Double Dealer
6 Highball Shooter
7 You Can't Do It Right
8 The Gypsy
9 Soldier Of Fortune
I love the way the shuffling outlined the original running order [tracks 1, 8 & 9] but the flip flop of HO and LDMAT, as well as YCDIR and HS worked great. I've never really liked Highball Shooter, but following LLD it was almost, enjoyable?
