Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
yes, that's great, isn't it! Ritchie shows his chops for sure on this album

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
I had a very fun,.....er.... experience as a teenager with April playing in the background,so it will always remain an all time favorite.I love the lp anyway, just some choice stuff there.

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
As alluded to by some previous posters - probably the most 'mature' of the MkI albums...hardly surprising, given it's chronological order, I guess.
Favorite track(s):
Why Didn't Rosemary?
Chasing Shadows
Blind
The Bird Has Flown
Painter

All the songs are great, except "Lalena" but it's good.
If only this is the debut album of Purple, Purple might get more respect coz this is perhaps the closest to hard rock of Mark One.

I think I'm the only person who really likes Lalena, personally it's my fav track on the album.
I also really like Chasing Shadows, April and Emeretta.

This is my favourite of the first 3 albums -despite Lalena (nice guitar work Ritchie!). Blackmore's guitar is great on this album, with Why Didn't Rosemary a standout solo!

One of the very best DP albums ever and THE best album by the original lineup(funny to think that it was released in most countries after Rod´s and Nick´s depature).
Chasing Shadows, Bird Has Flown and of course the masterpiece April make this a classic that never ages(I think that at least the instrumental band section of April sounds very timeless)!
I wholeheartedly agree with all of the above!

Bird Has Flown, Emeretta, Why Didn't Rosemary and especially the forgotten classic April make this my favourite MKI album.
Really makes you wonder how things would have panned out if the line up had stayed together?

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
Lalena is a fabulous track. I love Rod's "Hey" before Lord's solo kicks in. That's just genius.
I love it all. Not a single weak track on here. One of my fave Purple albums.
Fave track on the album is probably Blind. Up until that point, Ritchie's finest solo on record.
It just erupts from the vinyl in a fiery spasm of heavenly wah-wah.
