NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
_______________________________________________________________________
This is a topic inspired by the continual negative slant to the discussions on this forum. Just once I’d like to see a topic where we say only nice or positive things. In this case it’s about their third album. For example…
The closing track, “April” is an amazing piece of work, and a perfect setup for Jon Lord's “Concerto for Group & Orchestra.”
________________________________________________________________________
That’s how you play. Only nice things. If you choose to play dirty, we will simply ignore any negative comments.

This is my favourite of the first 3 albums -despite Lalena (nice guitar work Ritchie!). Blackmore's guitar is great on this album, with Why Didn't Rosemary a standout solo!

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
One of the very best DP albums ever and THE best album by the original lineup(funny to think that it was released in most countries after Rod´s and Nick´s depature).
Chasing Shadows, Bird Has Flown and of course the masterpiece April make this a classic that never ages(I think that at least the instrumental band section of April sounds very timeless)!

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
Probably the most challenging of the Mark I albums.
Strange cover (Lalena) meets hard-rocking tracks (Why Didn't, Bird Has Flown,...)meets experimental (chasing shadows, Fault Line) meets classic (April).
A major album!
Highlights: Chasing Shadows, Blind, Why Didn't, Bird Has Flown

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
While I'm not terribly fond of Mark 1 there's a lot to like about DP 3...
Why Didn't Rosemary and April are really great songs...
It start the departure from the more psychedelic mood of the first 2 records and generally has a harder edge.
Blackmore's playing is more up front and shows a growing maturity. Lord is fantastic.
There I got through it and it's almost all positive....

Re: NICE COMMENTS ONLY - Deep Purple (DP III)
Aye, in fact, I'd go as far as to say that DP III is the only Purple album I can play, pre-In Rock, all the way through. Shades and B Of T has too much naff stuff on it. There, now I don't need to post again on the Shades or B of T threads!

It's not the crappiest album of all time!

Come on you can do better than that!
It´s worth getting just for Blackmore´s outro solo on April alone!
