DIO with Deep Purple back in 2002
I have received 2 songs from a live recording of DP with Ronnie J. Dio - DP play 'Fever Dreams' and 'Rainbow in the Dark'. Steve Morse seems to enjoy himself - J.Lord plays no mentionable solo parts but there is a pleasant exchange of friendly words as Dio leaves the stage. Strange not to hear Ian Gillen though...
Anyone know the story behind it?

Re: DIO with Deep Purple back in 2002
Things centered around making the Concerto tour more comfy for all the musicians and fans alike...I saw it,and the Mexicans would have surely trashed the Auditorio had Dio not atleast played as long as he did, they were pissed when he left the stage and didn't return till the end of the show, you could smell the tention this caused, and he was given by far the biggest reception from the crowd that night,as he walked onto the stage...I had to bust out laughing at the cosmic admiration they have for him,not funny, but litterally scary vibes...it was almost like being lifted from the floor, the energy was something I've never witnessed a crowd do before or since...sheer worship...so I'd asy the whole idea worked in atleast one counrty.
I'm suspecting the two tracks you have were lifted from the Ahoy official bootleg?

It was more than strange to hear organ instead of synthezeiser on Rainbow in the Dark. But interesting.

I like the lack of synth on that particular performance from Jon on "Rainbow in the Dark"-- it makes the tune sound less 80s somehow...
Fever Dreams also sounds very Purple/Rainbow.

It's probably from the album "Live At The Rotterdam Ahoy". One of my fav DP live albums, they seem to be really enjoying themselves and the orchestra is great (best ever version of Perfect Strangers IMO).
Could also be from the limited addition version of Dio's Killing The Dragon album, they feature on that too.

Yeah they're from that gig, not sure it says it on the KTD packaging, but they are.
