Gillan On The Water
Just heard the new version of SOTW from Gillan's Inn! True to the original, but a more modern sound! Better than the original? Nope! OK? Yeah!
I can't help it, but I don't like eighties screamin' guitars...

Re: Gillan On The Water
Not so great. I actually like what was done with the vocal but the band is pretty weak. The guitar riff sounds almost like a midi.

Re: Gillan On The Water
Bring on Iommi in Trashed...please.
I hear Morse somehwere under all the noise...and also...so far from what I've heard of this album,it sounds somehwat overdone...but we'll have to see, because it's mp3 electronic type echoing that mucks it up...I hope thats what I'm hearing.

Re: Gillan On The Water
I think this is Mr Gillians way of saying "please someone do a tribute album to me....please.....(in (P)Rick voice)OK everyone in the house listen to me... look at me ..Look at me.......OK..I have money ...I'll pay you money...please ...I'll even sing on it for you...please..'
And that's his way of saying "look at me..I have friends who want to record with me"
"But I'm the peoples poet, the voice of the kids"

I wiggle in my chair"- excerpt from the book 'Things a Grown Man Should Never Say'.

Re: Gillan On The Water
If it's possible to waste ones breath?then you just did Brian....I could do better than that.
Whats that?giving me a shot...okay,I'll take one:
This song belongs to Ritchie, and he did his modern take of it in style, with Pat Boone, who I happpen to share Dio's feelings about, the man is a class act, even if Ritchie was the only one who saved his "in a metal mood" album,Gillan must only be dabbling with this because he somehow thinks the song belongs to him...I say give your song CIT a shot, and show that even though it's a tough one for you to do these days,it's still your song, and your song only, not Blackmores twang fest, nor the sisters of the moon and canned ass's watered down syrup version.(however good it may be)
Nothing hypocrical of me...just calling this one as I see it...I don't expect the Purple numbers on Gillans Inn to impress me much,it's his own stuff that I hope to enjoy.
How's that for fantasy from reality?

Re: Gillan On The Water
It was Satriani , heard uyb ,sotw and when a blind man cries on Bruce Dickinsons masters of metal on bbc radio 2 about 2 months back unchain your brain is superb hair raising pop metal , smoke sounds better on the radio (like a ring tone on my pc) wabmc is good but a little heavy handed instrumentally (Lord and Healey) but i may be wrong with this .

Re: Gillan On The Water
For what it's worth...the final product is always better, for one reason or another, and remains to be properly judged after atleast one run through in it's enirety...otherwise we would be purely speculating the outcome,in all obviousness.

Re: Gillan On The Water
I also think the singing is fine but the backing is very weak. The riff is played ugly. And the rest sounds like a pc playing.
